After lots of flying, I arrived at my hotel room after 8:00 pm, so I haven’t seen much of the city yet beyond the view of the unimpressive suburbs during the train ride from the airport. A fortnight in Italy. Thursday, May 16, 2013. Last Day, Last Supper. On my last full day in Italy it seemed fitting to visit the Last Supper. Il Cenacolo Vinciano. As it is locally called, this is Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous depiction, painted on a wall in the refectory of the monastery Santa Maria delle Grazie, itself located three metro stops west of the Duomo. A fortnight in Italy. Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Zoom with a View. At the hectic Termini station in Rome, I bought a ticket on the Frecciarossa, Italy’s high-speed train. I’ve ridden plenty of trains on this side of the pond but this one was the fastest. It covered the 170 miles in just over an hour and a half.
