Scandinavian People, Dear Reader. 8220;Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”. I could tell pretty much right away that I wasn’t in Denmark anymore when I stepped of the plane. Apart from the glaring lack of Danish on the signs when I accidentally bumped into someone in the airport I heard a delightful “Excuse Me! The next morning we took a bike tour of L...

Scandinavian People, Dear Reader. So What, is Your Favorite Beer Budweiser or Something? My flight over to Europe was on time, efficient, and I had no complaints (unlike a certain other world traveler friend of mine that also writes a blog. And I was excited to finally be in Scandinavia. Despite the fact that my flight was into Copenhagen, I immediately met up with my friend Ed and took the Øresundsbron. A huge cathedral that was built around 1085. Lunds domkyrka - a cool old cathedral. While I would hav...

il dolce far niente: Modena
http://beyond-providence.blogspot.com/2010/03/modena.html
Il dolce far niente. Friday, March 19, 2010. I'm getting behind on my blogging! But here is the update on my latest mini-voyage to Modena! A main road through the city:. The first thing we did was take a stroll around the city, and walked by the Este family's palace that was transformed into a military academy, an outdoor marketplace, a Jewish synagogue, and the impressive Romanesque Duomo of Modena, dating back to 1099! The facade of the duomo is shown below:. Below is the first room we saw:. Another ni...

il dolce far niente: Siena
http://beyond-providence.blogspot.com/2010/02/siena.html
Il dolce far niente. Saturday, February 27, 2010. Last weekend I went to Siena! I kept changing my mind back and forth on whether or not I would go, since I still felt sort of sick and the weather forecast said it would rain all day. But in the end it seemed like an opportunity not to be missed, so I went for it. Three regional trains later, I arrived at Siena with Wendy, Caroline, and their friend Allison. Here is the full photo album from the day: http:/ picasaweb.google.com/HoganRI/Siena02. We found a...

il dolce far niente: Copenhagen and Berlin
http://beyond-providence.blogspot.com/2010/05/copenhagen-and-berlin.html
Il dolce far niente. Saturday, May 22, 2010. The good news: Today, June 1st, I had my last final exam of the semester! The bad news: I've got a month and a half of travel to record in my blog before I leave Bologna! I guess the "bad news" is not so bad, is it? In any case, I do have a lot to write about, and now is the time to write it! So here we go. On the other hand, when I helped a random girl pick up the unopened beer bottles she had dropped on a Copenhagen bus, and she took the bottle from my hand ...

il dolce far niente: Parma
http://beyond-providence.blogspot.com/2010/07/parma.html
Il dolce far niente. Wednesday, July 7, 2010. The 12th century Romanesque Duomo of Parma and the famous baptistery on the right. At center is the bell tower in scaffolding. On the inside of the cathedral, there are several paintings by the famous Renaissance painter Parmigianino, and most notably, the frescoed ceiling of the dome: the Assumption by Correggio:. Or stream, that splits Parma in two:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Other Blogs (Abroad or Otherwise).
