مواليد : 2 / 12/ 1946 بالإسكندرية. ليسانس الآداب قسم الفلسفة من جامعة الإسكندرية. رئيس تحرير سلسلة كتابات جديدة 1995 - 2000. مدير إدارة الثقافة العامة - الثقافة الجماهيرية 1990 - 1995. إدارة النشر هيئة الكتاب 1985 - 1990. إدارة المسرح الثقافة الجماهيرية 1982 - 1985. أخصائي ثقافي الثقافة الجماهيرية 1976 - 1982. 1 - جائزة نجيب محفوظ من الجامعة الأمريكية عام 1996 عن رواية البلدة الأخري. 2 - جائزة أحسن رواية عام 1996 في معرض الكتاب عن رواية لا أحد ينام في الإسكندرية.
