Aberlour Map and Gallery of Photos. Aberlour, officially named ‘Charlestown of Aberlour’ is in the middle of the Spey Valley between Inverness and Aberdeen in the North East of Scotland. It is surrounded by the Cairngorm Mountains on one side and the Moray Firth coastline on the other. Aberlour Orphanage, which housed up to 500 children, was built in 1882 and closed in 1967.
