It’s well known that I’m no fan of Heathrow Terminal 5; the arrivals experience and flight transfer process seems unnecessarily awful, especially the security screening experience. On my most recent business trip to the UK I flew United in and out of Terminal 2, and it was a much more relaxed experience. A wonderfully simple and unsophisticated camera, we sold lots of Trips during the time I worked as a retail assistant in Dixons from 1981 to 1983. Despite having no battery, the trip manages to offer programmed automatic and aperture priority metering modes - made easier because it had to choose between only 1/40th or 1/200th shutter speeds! My arbitrary and subjective selection of cameras. Subscribe to this RSS feed. The world's first SLR with a fully automatic Electronic Shutter. In 1975 Pentax introduced a trio of cameras to launch the PK Bayonet mount, of which the K2 was the flagship. Though the basic chassis is very similar to the K1000 which came a year later, the cameras themselves are very different. Aperture priority only automatic was a fairly bold move for a 35mm SLR in 1977, but the great handling of the ME won many fans.

From about 1980 onwards I always wanted a Hasselblad; everything about them was appealing: preferred camera (later in life) of Ansel Adams, camera chosen by NASA for space and lunar photography. My arbitrary and subjective selection of cameras. I began photography, or at least began to take it more seriously, in 1979 while at school. I was struggling to find an arts subject at which I wasn't terrible and had eliminated any form of drawing, painting or ceramics from the list. Photography combine a geekish interest in mechanical contraptions with an attempt at artistic expression, and then threw in a dose of chemistry and physics. I was hooked.
