The diary of the restoration. Remove chassis bottom plate. Click on thumbnail to see big photo. Of the front of the chassis. Note the two plates welded on to the box sections. They are not painted! I have made a cut across the bottom plate just infront of the suspension mounts. The trusty angle grinder comes into action to cut through the welds holding the repair plates. Under the plates is . rust! I made another cut across the bottom plate just behind the cross member that has the hand brake lever mount.

With the suspension units removed I could get at the weld between the sheet that has been used to repair the floor. The heater control cable was disconnected. The clutch cable is detached by lifting the end of the cable out of the clevis behind the pedal. The speedometer was removed by disconnecting it at the gea...

The diary of the restoration. How did it all start? When the family arrived I sold it and bought a second hand GS estate. (I'm not sure why? But eventually it started rusting faster than I could mix the epoxy resin so I traded it in for a new Dyane 6 (MAK? I eventually sold the second Dyane. (Again, I don't know why.) Since then my main cars have been Astra Estates. A van, then. What about one of those corrugated things that French Farmers drive?
