Kitchen Garden in France: February 2012
http://kitchengardeninfrance.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Kitchen Garden in France. Wednesday, February 8, 2012. A few Garden Birds. My neighbour Michael has taken the opportunities presented by our recent snowfall to take yet more amazing photographs. This time he has compiled a set of the most amazing pictures of our garden birds. Please enjoy them, and, once again, a big thank you to Michael, for making them available to me for our enjoyment. Monday, February 6, 2012. Whole of my garden white. Dazzlingly white! Now, I know that to many of you 6” of sn...

Kitchen Garden in France: Spring at last
http://kitchengardeninfrance.blogspot.com/2013/04/spring-at-last.html
Kitchen Garden in France. Monday, April 15, 2013. The winter here in south west France has dragged on a bit this year, with the cold and wet weather extending into the beginning of this month. However, the last couple of weeks have brought some spring weather with them and, suddenly, things are bursting into flower. These tulips are in a small flower bed right next to the main door to the house, so, although Tulips are short lived, I get to enjoy them everday whilst they are in bloom. In the orchard, the...

http://kitchengardeninfrance.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Kitchen Garden in France. Sunday, April 1, 2012. A couple of months ago I was writing on here about the unexpected snowfall. In that post I referred to my potted herbs collection as “looking particularly forlorn”. It turns out that statement was “particularly inadequate”! 160; With the exception of my rosemary and sage bushes, all the rest of my herb collection has been completely wiped out. I’m still hoping that the rosemary and sage will survive and they are showing great promise. A consequence of th...

Kitchen Garden in France. Tuesday, February 18, 2014. More about the Nesting Box. I don’t know much about the habits of tits when looking for nesting sites but I’m hopeful that my box wil prove attractive to one and am reassured by this early visit. I have also hung 5 different bird feeders in my fig tree, all of which I can see from my chair on the terrace and all of which I enjoy watching. Please support . National Nest Box Week. http://kitchengardeninfrance.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Kitchen Garden in France. Friday, July 15, 2011. My friend Michael has been out and about again, shooting wildlife. In a country that takes any form of hunting very seriously and the quiet of a Sunday morning is peppered with the sounds of gunshots, Michael always enjoys telling people he's been out shooting wildlife, only to later clarify that the only shooting he ever does is with his camera. He emailed these photos to me, this morning. Labels: la vie Francais. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Scroll down t...

http://kitchengardeninfrance.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Kitchen Garden in France. Sunday, October 30, 2011. Away for a while. I’ve left behind the sunny south west France and headed west for a holiday. The trip over here was interesting. I flew from the UK to Paris, then to Boston and finally to a small airport, known affectionately as Owl’s Head. I traveled on an Airbus, then a Boeing 747 before boarding a smaller plane for the last leg. When I say smaller, I’m talking SMALL! The past year in the garden has been a disaster. Kitchen Garden in France: January 2012
http://kitchengardeninfrance.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Kitchen Garden in France. Sunday, January 22, 2012. I sowed my first seeds of 2012 today. Just a few cauliflowers and some Antirrhinum's which I'm hoping to get to grow in a corner bed, I use for attracting insects into the potager. I also planted up some pumpkin seeds I had germinated. I know it's a bit early but hey! I had a good look and, as they all seemed healthy enough, I carefully potted them up. If I get some pumpkin plants, it will be a bonus. Thursday, January 12, 2012. Kitchen Garden in France. Tuesday, August 23, 2011. You know how sometimes, you look back and say, That was a good week? 160; Then, there are the rather more rare occasions when you look back and say That was a GREAT week! 160; I have just had a GREAT week. Kitchen Garden in France: M. Gary
http://kitchengardeninfrance.blogspot.com/2014/03/m-gary.html
Kitchen Garden in France. Thursday, March 13, 2014. I was greatly saddened a couple of days ago to learn of the passing of an old friend, M. Gary. Herve Gary was a local farmer and I often turned to him to help me along as I struggled to merge my habits from gardening in the United Kingdom into those needed to grow vegetables in rural south west France. M Gary was 91 this year and continued to farm up until a few weeks ago when he fell ill. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

They are done when the leaf tips are fried brown and crispy, and the stalks are just cooked through. Eat promptly, as the semi-wild treasure that they are.
