A stitch in my side. Hex and hugs and sausage rolls (? On October 22, 2014. You know how sometimes you see the same pattern plastered all over blogs and every second pin(terest) is a great rendition of the pattern and you say to yourself… “I really think I could do that and I don’t think I need a pattern”…. Well, this is what happens when I do that, and let this be a cautionary tale for you all! You see I had this terrific jelly roll of Summersville by Lucie Summers for Moda. Not thinking things through.

A stitch in my side. Project — July 2011. The Girl Handkerchief Quilt and the Boy Handkerchief Quilt — simply made from 5-6 packets each of square handkerchiefs I bought from Best and Less. I washed them first to get rid of the stiffening in them – unfortunately this also made them fray slightly as well. You can always square them up with your quilting ruler but I left them as is as I wanted a slightly mismatched appearance. A good hot iron also helped bring them back into shape. Polka Dot Pineapple: 'Simply Geometric' Pincushion
http://mousechirpy-polkadotpineapple.blogspot.com/2010/01/prety-petunia-pincushion.html
A Blog About Things That Matter To Me. Tuesday, January 19, 2010. This tutorial is intended for personal use only.*. What better way to start off the new year than with a pretty new pincushion. Did I just hear a collective sigh of ooh's and ahh's rounded out with a squeal of delight? Oh, never mind, it came from me. What is it about pincushions, anyway? I can never get enough of them. Here is the pattern. It is made up of circles, squares and triangles. Simply geometric! Press all pieces flat with an iron.

A stitch in my side. Laquo; Hex and hugs and sausage rolls (? On November 10, 2014. Translates to Little Stabs. Is a form of decorative stitching from Japan – most often compared to a basic running stitch. It’s simple, reasonably quick and not at all tricksy! I use DMC cotton Perle thread – I love the variegated colours – I usually wind them on to a wooden spool as I’m working to avoid tangles. I have one in progress (pictured above); one completed…. I so want the bunnies. Oh I want them all! Beautiful w...

A stitch in my side. Laquo; The mother of them all. On October 17, 2014. Ok – so it’s been a while. May in fact, ridiculous, the year is almost done! So where have I been… well nowhere really and everywhere. Mainly up and down. My dear father passed away in June after a long illness. While you can prepare for the inevitable you can never prepare for how you will feel as the days progress. Certainly not the most creative of outlets although with long term unemployment I have developed a brilliant and quic...

A stitch in my side. The mother of them all. Another fabulous week to be sewing and creating and especially with it culminating in Mother’s Day it seems appropriate to do some special sewing for someone special. I already had a store bought gift to give mum but wanted something personal to go with it. Added to this I really wanted to try some applique and things were starting to become clear. But always a little practice first…. My inspiration came from a fabulous little pin from Flamingo Toes. Well, as ...

About me | Sonya May hem
https://sonyamayhem.wordpress.com/about
A stitch in my side. Hi, my name is Sonya and welcome to my blog! I’m a forty something girlie who lives and works in Brisbane. Australia. This blog is an occasional place for me to post about my adventures in sewing, needlework and quilting. I prefer to let my sewing grow organically from the seeds of my imagination. As a self-taught sewer I stick to the basics but am always on the hunt for new ideas. Some of these ideas work. I use a Janome 4120QDC. Ten things about me:. I don’t care to dance. I hope y...
