Saturday, 02 May 2009 13:24. I would not want anyone with a young child with Canavan Disease to read this website and think that their child is going to be the same as Ben. I think that Ben is quite severley affected with Canavan Disease and also it is not know, but suspected that he may have suffered additional brain damage during his birth. Ben has the following symptoms:. Severe spasticity of limbs. Reflux and feeding problems from birth requiring tube feeding.

Welcome to the 'All About Ben' website. We have written this site about our son who has Canavan Disease, a rare neurological disorder resulting in him being severely physically disabled. We want to share our experiences in the hope that they may be of help to other families with a disabled child. I hope you will see that Ben tries hard to overcome pain and disability, gets lots of enjoyment out of life and is loved by all who meet him. There are an estimated 770,000 disabled children living in the UK.

For their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Expo. Ben’s project on helicopters was one of the ones selected from the Academic Fair at Salisbury Central School.
