The Rogue Botanist: Homesteading prequel

http://roguebotanist.blogspot.com/2014/01/homesteading-prequel.html

Another clueless, airhead model. Saturday, January 25, 2014. Iced over Coral Honeysuckle ( Lonicera sempervirens. And Crossvine ( Bignonia capreolata. Partitioned for small starter colony. Extra layer of beeswax will increase likelihood of a large honeycomb. And spiderwort ( Tradescantia ohioensis. The only vegetable that didn't survive were peas. This winter is my best crop of lettuce, broccoli, spinach, artichoke and Kohlrabi. Kohlrobi (should have been harvested earlier but still tasty when steamed).

The Rogue Botanist: July 2013

http://roguebotanist.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Another clueless, airhead model. Friday, July 19, 2013. I joined an “Initial Attack” crew from Texas for a wildfire detail to Arizona from 1-14 July. Representing the crew were personnel from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service and the Texas Forest Service. As the designation implies this crew is called up to slow the spread of a wild fire until larger resources can arrive to contain it, if needed. If there is no fire the crew is used at the discretion of the unit where it is stationed.

A Runner's Story. Posted by Ed Mahoney. Asymp; Leave a comment. Sits at the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and is also part of the headwaters to the Colorado River. A quaint mountain town with wooden boardwalks and expensive but good restaurants, it’s worth a stop if you’re near Rocky Mountain National Park, or the Winter Park ski resort. Grand Lake anchors the southern end of Trail Ridge Road. Rob and I ate surprisingly good Mexican food at El Pacifico. Larr; Previous post. August 21,...

A Runner's Story. Posted by Ed Mahoney. Asymp; Leave a comment. Which mirrors my plan. I won’t have a sense of how effective uber distance training is until I run the marathon. I’m not expecting to run faster, rather hoping to run more comfortably. Specifically over the final 10K. If you’ve ever run a marathon, then you know how unpleasant those last six miles can be. I also have a sneaking suspicion I’ve become addicted. Posted by Ed Mahoney. Asymp; Leave a comment. Posted by Ed Mahoney. Six weeks of my...

A Runner's Story. Posted by Ed Mahoney. Asymp; Leave a comment. Karen and I were empty nesters for a week. We know now how it feels. What to expect. Now that Ellie is back, I know what to expect on our joint training plan too. Three miles was too much for the first day. Ellie was able to run two miles, running the first mile non-stop.
