Til Kingdom Come: May 2014
http://kingdomcome-lisa.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 31, 2014. The Day You Were Born: Cole Isaac Barton. My sweet, precious Cole baby. You have arrived, and your timing was impeccable! On May 11th, 2014, which also happened to be Mother's Day and the twins' birthday this year, I woke up feeling slightly terrible and wondering if this might be the day. We picked your brother up from Sunday school and I got my first handmade Mother's Day project ever! It had a poem and a tracing of his hand that he was SO proud of. Yes! But we made it! And then...

Til Kingdom Come: March 2014
http://kingdomcome-lisa.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 20, 2014. Back in May 2013, my family visited a little village in India called Bendigeri, it was actually the place my dad grew up as child. The children there stole my heart and changed it. They helped me see how truly beautiful this world is because of the people who fill it. I left wanting to make a difference in their lives since they had made such a drastic difference in mine. My heart is swelling with gratitude for everyone who supported this dream, whether through money, prayers, o...

Til Kingdom Come: Taking Risks
http://kingdomcome-lisa.blogspot.com/2015/01/taking-risks.html
Thursday, January 15, 2015. When I was 20 weeks pregnant with Jace we found out we were having a boy. We also found out he only had one kidney. Every time I leave these appointments, I simultaneously want to hug the doctor for the good news that he is healthy and thriving, but I also want to kick her in the shins for setting parameters around my baby. On the car ride home I always reevaluate our parenting skills. How should we handle this? Do we bubble wrap Jace? Isn't every second of living life a risk ...

Til Kingdom Come: April 2014
http://kingdomcome-lisa.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 13, 2014. As we are preparing to add a new human to the mix of our daily lives it is becoming apparent to me what my weaknesses are. I am not good at envisioning. Don't ask me to pick out the perfect paint colors or what piece of furniture is going to go where. I cannot tell you. Literally. My brain stops functioning and sends me into high alert mode: "FIND SOMEONE WHO KNOWS! Same goes for organizing, purging closets, making space. I don't even trust myself with a measuring tape. If I focus...

Thursday, February 5, 2015. A Little "Hawk Talk"- From a Highly Unqualified Fan. Because of this obsession with feelings, my memories are usually accompanied by the sights, smells, sounds, and the breed of butterflies that swarmed my stomach during different seasons of life. No, really. Someone give me Russell's number so I can tell him how this one mistake cannot rob him of his worth and identity and we are proud! And I love that Doug Baldwins's mom is texting him words of inspiration in the mornings an...

Mendez Moments: May 2011
http://mendezmoments.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Happy 5 month birthday to our sweet baby girl Zayana Grace! You are truly amazing little girl! Your smile was also so infectious and I was so glad to be able to experience it. I remember the first time you smiled at me. While many people say that newborns babies don't smile, I would say you proved them wrong. I can swear that you smiled at me those first days in the NICU. You were such a beautiful baby. I know I may be a little bias as you dad but I can honestly say that you ...

Til Kingdom Come: He Sees You
http://kingdomcome-lisa.blogspot.com/2014/11/he-sees-you.html
Sunday, November 23, 2014. I remember one hot, summer night when my husband asked me to come outside and star gaze with him. As we laid out on our deck I remember looking up at the canopy that hung over us- a perfect midnight blue sky with millions of sparkling stars. I remember feeling so small in that moment. How can He be with me here when He's clearly with them up there? He is great enough to hold all of it in His gentle hands. He wants you to know you are not alone. He will seek you out in t...So th...

Til Kingdom Come: July 2014
http://kingdomcome-lisa.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 2, 2014. From One to Two. I can't even remember what was ever so hard about having one kid. Don't get me wrong- I. It was hard. I hated when people belittled having one kid because sometimes I wondered how I was surviving and they were making it sound like a stroll in the park. So, to all my one-kid friends, I still empathize with you. Going from zero to one is an intense, sacred life change with it's own set of adjustments and sacrifices. But, TWO? Ain't nobody got time for. Now, I am.

A Branch in the Vine: May 2013
http://abranchinthevine.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
A Branch in the Vine. The transparent twisty turny journey of a Christian, 30-something, wife, daughter, sister, friend learning what it means to abide in Christ. Sunday, May 12, 2013. Mother's Day Rejoicing and Weeping. Ejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. This is my favorite verse on Mother’s Day. Being childless is a great sorrow in my life, and yet there are aspects of it for which I am grateful. There are a lot of people in this world who do not feel like they fit in. The other d...
