The other day I found something. It was a birthday card. Ruth and Glenn Hicks had given it to me, and it was printed on parchment paper, and purported to be a "Happy Life Insurance Policy" and it listed all the reasons why I should celebrate and be merry for this birthday and for many more to come. I went out into the shop, where I wa...

But can you grow things with nothing but dirt, water, and sun? Then we go off and take a long summer's nap and await the crop? Will you go in with shovels to do the same?

Wednesday, November 23, 2005. To my friends and family, I'm glad you're in my little forest. Posted by okiehillgirl @ 11/23/2005 10:09:00 AM. Tuesday, November 22, 2005. My best friend in the whole wide world sent this to me, and I thought I'd spread it around a little. I appreciate Thanksgiving and all it entails, but sometimes folks take it a bit too seriously. Musings from Two Medicine Man. Living - and already savoring - the Adventures across the backroads of western Idaho and eastern Oregon! There I was, dreaming of The Southern Cross. I stepped outside, catching some chilled air as I checked on the chickens. Frosty clear. And it got me to thinking that I love our night skies. Of course, the Horsehead Nebula. Lastly, I just found this neat poem, check it out:. Of the Australian national flag, the Australian poet Banjo Paterson wrote in 1893:. Heres something...

Wednesday, October 12, 2005. Well, now.remember that handbasket.it seems to be gaining momentum on it's downward slide. Nothing I can do but hang on for the ride, it seems. Some other things I've learned:. Mothers and teenage children having hormonal fluctuations at the same time is a cruel joke of nature, and a recipe for disaster. Don't be fooled into thinking boys don't have those fluctuations; they do, it's just more on a constant, rather than monthly, basis. Thursday, October 06, 2005. Okayso now it...

Thursday, February 16, 2006. You are my prize marble,. The one I won't play,. The one I keep warm in my pocket, day after day. I take you out and gaze at you,. When I don't have to share. I hold you gently in my palm,. Each time discovering a beauty that I hadn't noticed was there. Like light through a prism, or sunshine on opal,. Color spills everywhere, when I gaze at you. There are many fearful situations that either exist or potentially could exist in our world, in our daily routines. So how do we get beyond our crippling fear? Do we deny it? They say, "There is nothing to fear except fear itself." But who are they, and what do they know about me and my situation? So how can one deal with one's fears, one's insecurities? Objectively, I could see tha...
