The Artful Blog: May 2013
http://artfullyblogging.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 17, 2013. Iron Man 3".eh. As a fan of comics, nothing irritates me more (when watching a comic book-based film) when a filmmaker decides to make wholesale changes to characters under the guise of "this is better" or "this will not work with audiences." If that is the case, then why use the comic book as a basis for anything? Why not create your own intellectual property instead of a bastardized version of someone else's? 3 the Iron Man armor. Why even give Killian superpowers at all? Occasion...
The Artful Blog: April 2009
http://artfullyblogging.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 25, 2009. As I write this entry, I am flying to Omaha for a wedding this weekend. No, I am not writing this in a word processing application and then porting it over to Blogger-I am literally on-line in midair! Air travel just got a lot more fun. Slowly, over the years, things started to change. I first noticed the changes right after the turn of the century, when my numerous flights for the biotech. Firm I worked for became shorter thanks to my iPod. And to my PSP. D Yoda would, in fact,...
The Artful Blog: Summer Movie Season STILL Sucks! Superman (sorta) Returns
http://artfullyblogging.blogspot.com/2006/06/summer-movie-season-still-sucks.html
Thursday, June 29, 2006. Summer Movie Season STILL Sucks! If you have not seen "Superman Returns" and do not like to read plot spoilers, stop reading here and go see the film. If spoilers do not bother you, keep reading. I might be able to save you a good $8.00 movie ticket. OK, so here I am at the Navy Pier IMAX Theater in. What was good about the movie? What was bad/disappointing about the film? Just about everything else. Kate Bosworth's. It's a f- -in' comic book, not Othello. This brings me to the r...
The Artful Blog: July 2010
http://artfullyblogging.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 22, 2010. 7 more days on this phase. And I am down 32 pounds. My clothes are baggy.I am beyond the last notch on my belt and need to consider getting another one. My shorts sag below my butt to the point where I look like some sort of weird Indian gangsta rapper (somehow, those three words just look ridiculous next to one another). The most important thing is that I am still not hungry! OK-the last 7 days should be easy. I'll report the final weight loss amount in 7 days. Links to this post.
The Artful Blog: "The Man of Steel"-Modern Mythmaking at its Finest
http://artfullyblogging.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-man-of-steel-modern-mythmaking-at.html
Tuesday, June 18, 2013. The Man of Steel"-Modern Mythmaking at its Finest. Should they even try? Should be portrayed, this was not. What was with this weird music that seemed more at home in "Gladiator"? Was THIS what they expected to take the place of John Williams' iconic "Superman March"? Were the filmmakers no better than the Salkinds/Pierre Spengler? Review, where the reviewer mocks the disclosure of the "S" symbol as being the Kryptonian symbol for "hope." This was introduced in the comics some...

If you were wondering what I want for my birthday (which isn't for several months) aside from a date with Ryan, a date with Sidney, and a date with Hugh Laurie (yeah, yeah), I also want a trip to an amusement park (I lurve rollercoasters) and one of these:. I mean really. A freaking mini cow. Really. Your mascot sits in a tree all day thinking up new things to put cheese on. Really. I Am Emily X.

Murphy's Law: April 2009

Ramblings from a law school graduate in Chicago - and occasionally, from Murphy. Monday, April 13, 2009. I don't know the sound of my father's voice. I don't even know how he says my name. But it plays out like a song on a jukebox in a bar. In the back of my head till it's weary and mushy. And in the cotton fields out by the house where I was born. The leaves burn like effigies of my kin. The trains run like snakes through Pentecostal pine. Filled up with cotton and fine slow gin. I Am Emily X.

Ramblings from a law school graduate in Chicago - and occasionally, from Murphy. Monday, January 26, 2009. AH - Movie Critic Extraordinaire. I don't see many movies. Why? Well it's a combination of things. And I suppose that that earlier statement should be amended to say "I don't see many GOOD movies" (there, happy Eddie? Oooooh the suspense). Oh, I will probably have some * *SPOILERS* * so if you are at all angered by them, um, read this post another time. Or never. Whichever. At the big trial? Hmph Af...
