Yonder Mountain Trail Runner: Hardrock 2013
http://brotherpine.blogspot.com/2013/07/hardrock-2013.html
Yonder Mountain Trail Runner. Thursday, July 25, 2013. Approaching the top of Handies Peak some 14,000 feet above sea level and around 35 miles into Hardrock. I hear Mikio's heavy breathing resembling a dying vacuum cleaner. Rob: "Mikio.you.okay? Mikio: "Can't.breathe.need.oxygen." "Wooo.Hooo! Mikio Miyazoe, from the Pacific shores of Japan, 16th place in 32:50! Okay if I sit on this rock? Rob: "I promise to eat 5 M&M's.". Mike: "Can you make it 10? I need a shot of tequila.". So a little over 3 hours sp...

Yonder Mountain Trail Runner: Cheyenne Mountain 50K
http://brotherpine.blogspot.com/2014/04/cheyenne-mountain-50k.html
Yonder Mountain Trail Runner. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. I don't care if it's a 5K, 50K, or 100-miler. The Cheyenne Mountain 50K. Was actually my first time racing this distance. So at least it was a PR. Some pretty nice trails there in Cheyenne Mountain State Park. I did make a fun weekend of it down in the Springs, getting out on the big mountain (Pikes Peak) the next day. Kristel and I took on the Incline and then a pleasant, easy run up to Barr Camp in some fresh snow. I think I have got her ...2014 ...

Yonder Mountain Trail Runner: San Juan Solstice 50
http://brotherpine.blogspot.com/2014/06/san-juan-solstice-50.html
Yonder Mountain Trail Runner. Thursday, June 26, 2014. San Juan Solstice 50. Five years was much too long of a wait to return to this race (my first 50-miler in 2009). Lake City is great! The San Juan mountains are great! This race is great! Although I wasn't as fast as I would have liked (did someone say "training race"? You can't complain when you get to soak in the beauty of the San Juans. First of many stream crossings. Williams Creek Aid (Mile 16). The Divide Aid Station (mile 31) and the drop back ...

Yonder Mountain Trail Runner: Horsetooth Mountain Trail Half Marathon (2:07:33)
http://brotherpine.blogspot.com/2010/06/horsetooth-mountain-trail-half-marathon.html
Yonder Mountain Trail Runner. Sunday, June 27, 2010. Horsetooth Mountain Trail Half Marathon (2:07:33). I couldn't win this rock at Bighorn. But I won this one today. The Horsetooth Mountain Trail Half Marathon. Off at Western States this weekend. Sam Malmberg got the win in 1:47:49, a couple minutes slower than Corey Hanson's course record. I got to talk to Sam after the race and it sounds like he is ready to start gearing up for Pikes Peak. This August. Maybe a sub 4hr? View my complete profile. Olympi...

Yonder Mountain Trail Runner: Hardrock 2014
http://brotherpine.blogspot.com/2014/07/hardrock-2014_23.html
Yonder Mountain Trail Runner. Wednesday, July 23, 2014. I dropped at Mile 58 (Grouse Gulch) around 3am (21 hours after starting). There were lots of "epic" stories from this year's Hardrock. Dakota summarized a lot of the more talked-about ones here. And I am positive that there were just as many stories to tell from the back of the pack as well. Of course, Kilian's. So again, I push on. I actually run quite well into Ouray and have hopes of turning things around. After sensing a slight drop in the inten...

Yonder Mountain Trail Runner: Black Hills 100
http://brotherpine.blogspot.com/2011/06/black-hills-100.html
Yonder Mountain Trail Runner. Wednesday, June 29, 2011. The inaugural Black Hills 100. After some nasty thunderstoms the night before the race, which were sure to add a little more mud to the course, we took off from the track in Sturgis at 6am on what was looking to be a very nice (but warm) day. Around 150 starters for the 3 races (100-mile, 100K, and 50-mile) all taking off together, with about 100 of us going for 100 miles. Less than 1 minute to start. Coming into Dalton Lake with Adam Schwartz-Lowe.

Rocky Mountain Dirt Running: Longs Peak Radical Slam
http://irunmountains.blogspot.com/2014/08/longs-peak-radical-slam.html
Rocky Mountain Dirt Running. Monday, August 11, 2014. Longs Peak Radical Slam. Longs, the Palisades and Meeker from Pagoda. For those living under the shadow of Colorado's northern Front Range, there is one undisputed monarch that rises above them all. Sitting proudly at the center of the action in Rocky Mountain National Park, Longs Peak is visible from most towns in the northern foothills corridor, and from virtually everywhere on the immediate plains to the east. Then of course, there are the link-up ...

Rocky Mountain Dirt Running: Salida Trail Marathon 2013 - AKA Run Through Time
http://irunmountains.blogspot.com/2013/03/salida-trail-marathon-2013-aka-run.html
Rocky Mountain Dirt Running. Sunday, March 17, 2013. Salida Trail Marathon 2013 - AKA Run Through Time. The Salida Trail Marathon. Milling around at the start, chatting with familiar faces, I was feeling comfortable in shorts, a T and arm panties, despite a weather forecast predicting the Snowpocalypse: run hard, crank the internal furnace, get up, get down and be done. As it turned out, we'd get an inch, maybe two, of snow above 8,000 feet in what turned out to be pretty good conditions. SkyRun SouthAfr...
