Band Produce: Big up to Mikey
http://bandproduce.blogspot.com/2008/08/big-up-to-mikey.html
Wednesday, 6 August 2008. Big up to Mikey. Thanks to Mikey for watering, picking (with assistance from Gran) and generally managing the business in our absence researching Californian organic farming and wine making (hic). He is sick of the sight of beans and courgettes! Here he is fleeing the evil Band Produce Commune Project. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Current Weather in the Greenhouse. Check on the Current Weather in the Greenhouse. José Pizarro’s Basque country recipes. Big up to Mikey.
Band Produce: A New Year
http://bandproduce.blogspot.com/2010/02/new-year.html
Wednesday, 10 February 2010. So here we are and its February already. After two successful growing seasons in the greenhouse attention turns to the coming season. Lessons have been learnt, some harshly, some have been fun but all have added to the store of knowledge as to what crops are successful and which ones the rabbits (damn their hides! We had a good crop of tomatoes although we will need to rotate this year and watch out for blight. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Band Produce: Rosehip Syrup
http://bandproduce.blogspot.com/2009/02/rosehip-syrup.html
Tuesday, 10 February 2009. So - as promised, Ray and I made some rosehip syrup with the handy haul of hips (alliteration there) we snaffled whilst clearing the new rows down at the Band Produce greenhouse. We got about half a kilogram (that's a pound to you) of rosehips. Not withstanding a minor hiccup in using too much water, our syrup turned out pretty well. Going to put it on pancakes or something.*. So the general method:. Take all the stalks and whatnot off, and chop up the hips pretty roughly.

Spacmonstrous: A Struggle With Internets.: November 2010
http://spacmonster.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Originally uploaded by Spacmonster. I actually picked some tomatoes at the weekend. Which is odd given that the garden looked like this. Still, a bit of ice is supposed to be good for purple sprouting broccoli, which is what we've got in at the moment. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on Twitter. Couple of quick pictures from a Frostbite Series race from a couple of weeks ago - courtesy of BlackJack (who we were overtaking.). News and Comics and Stuff.

Spacmonstrous: A Struggle With Internets.: Growing stuff and things
http://spacmonster.blogspot.com/2010/05/growing-stuff-and-things.html
Friday, May 14, 2010. Growing stuff and things. So the raised beds. Are in, various planters are made and filled with soil and other nice things, and we are now growing a whole bunch of stuff and things in our garden. We're making it up as we go along a little bit, but it is still nice to have stuff in there. Ran out of room in the raised beds so had to make some planters out of things. Oh - and we re-painted a wall so everything looks nice. Next, adding a new barbecue! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Spacmonstrous: A Struggle With Internets.: Prints for the Lounge
http://spacmonster.blogspot.com/2010/01/prints-for-lounge.html
Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Prints for the Lounge. House decoration is very nearly done. So much so that rather than thinking about tearing down wallpaper and filling holes or making things out of wood and other things, we're now thinking about putting up pictures. So I made some art for the lounge, we have a green theme going on, so some trees were in order. This one is from closer to home - the Bluebell Woods:. And this one is from a bit further afield - the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia.
Spacmonstrous: A Struggle With Internets.: Raised beds, stage two
http://spacmonster.blogspot.com/2010/02/raised-beds-stage-two.html
Monday, February 22, 2010. Raised beds, stage two. Originally uploaded by Spacmonster. Here they are then, ready to be filled up. We successfully sunk them below the level of the gravel and started the process of filling them with a mix of compost and tompsoil. Mark out the holes and dig them (a foot deep for our fence posts). Attempt to put frame into holes. Realise holes are in wrong place. Make them even bigger. Give up and whack the whole thing with the heavy end of a pick axe until it is level!

Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Artists, comic book creators, toy designers, and celebrity fans are getting out their markers, paint brushes and glue guns to transform blank Mighty Muggs into one-of-a-kind Star Wars art to be auctioned by The Make-A-Wish Foundation. Seriously, seriously cool. Wednesday, July 01, 2009. I was in a race. Keeping my weight down. Originally uploaded by Spacmonster. Friday, March 04, 2011. Photo from a trip to the beach. A photo by Spacmonster. Kitesurfing looks like fun, this guy was flying up and down in the shallows jumping waves and generally having a good time. I was dry and relatively warm (was v windy) on the shore though. Spacmonstrous: A Struggle With Internets.: Making some raised beds at Le Braconnier Cottage
http://spacmonster.blogspot.com/2010/02/making-some-raised-beds-at-le.html
Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Making some raised beds at Le Braconnier Cottage. Originally uploaded by Spacmonster. Major project time, we're making some raised beds in the garden to grow some veg. The basic idea is to use the bit at the end of the garden, which gets a fair bit of light in the afternoon. Also means that we can put off digging up the patio for a while! Our design was fool proof - gravel boards and fence posts screwed together into two boxes (joined together in the middle).
