Our friend Clay was home from college and picked me up early in the morning while it was still dark out. I was excited, but kind of nervous, too. I prayed our hired men wouldn’t drive by while my backside was sticking up in the air. I have to use my mouth. This might sound stupid. Clay asked if my nerves were starting to mess with me yet.

Every month the coordinator of our local Farm Bureau Association and I go into our school’s fourth grade classroom to teach “Ag in the Classroom.” This morning two members of the board of directors came along to lend a hand. I was hit in the face with a gate at a neighbor’s. Hence, my first example. A couple of years ago we had some heifers out. Theron was on foot, a neighbor on a four wheeler, me in the pickup. My job was to get around the section and beat the heifers to the gate and get it open. Please, Lord, help me open this gate!

May 20, 2013. Sunday afternoon we checked on the heifers. The weather forecast called for severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings. These girls were camping out on top of the hill. They had a pretty view. Charlie was enjoying the moment as a group of heifers were checking him out. This brave sole came out of the pond to see what we were up to. He had another one check him out from behind. When she touched him, it scared them both. Charlie was able to find Candy's calf. She is getting all grown up now.

May 20, 2013. I made some modifications to a headboard my Grandpa Wolf had built some time ago. He had some magazine racks and hooks attached to it. I removed them, adjusted the shelf on top so the headboard could be flush with the wall. Next, I sanded and stained it in aged oak. Then added the leather upholstery and finishing tacks.
