William Beuther Photography: August 2012
http://billbeutherphoto.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 28, 2012. I have been pondering why I like photos with garish colors when my normal preference is for black and white. Why black and white? The obvious answer is that I see it as more dramatic and more interesting. Because color sometimes seems to get in the way. I think there are two reasons for this. First, unless we are totally colorblind we see the world in color. To present it without the color tends to cause us to look more closely. Since my last post we decided on the five images f...
William Beuther Photography: April 2014
http://billbeutherphoto.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 11, 2014. Well, the band is finally in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and this is my tribute. These photos were taken at their September, 2009 Cleveland concert, where I was fortunate enough to have a photo pass. I used Photoshop and Corel Painter to get a distinctive look that hopefully expresses the essence of Kiss. Okay, it's not the original band, and I know that bothers some people a lot, but I wasn't into photography back then and couldn't have gotten a photo pass if I had been.
William Beuther Photography: May 2013
http://billbeutherphoto.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 13, 2013. Sixth Grade Student Photos. I recently made brief presentations on photography to two of Mary Crabtree's sixth grade classes at Buckeye Intermediate School. Mary had asked me to help her students create images from a bug's eye view to complete a school project they had been working on for some time. After the presentations on photo basics including composition and lighting, Mary took her students outside using iPads as cameras and sent me the results for follow-up critique sessions.
William Beuther Photography: Colorful Cotswolds
http://billbeutherphoto.blogspot.com/2014/02/colorful-cotswolds_5.html
Wednesday, February 5, 2014. The Cotswolds, an officially designated Area Of Natural Beauty, was one of the places I visited on a two week walking tour in England. These wonderful old buildings are in Oxford, home of the famous university. Americans and British do have differences in spite of sharing a language. On one walk, a group of locals asked where we were from. When we replied the United States, they said, "We know. Where in the states? I loved the beautiful old trees. A Spot of Rain. This is the ...
William Beuther Photography: Woodland Gem
http://billbeutherphoto.blogspot.com/2014/08/woodland-gem.html
Sunday, August 24, 2014. Lee and I visited Nature Realm in Akron a few weeks ago and I took along my infrared camera. I am on a roll right now with colorizing black and white images in Photoshop, so I decided to play around with one of the photos I took and this is the result, which I call Woodland Gem. I like the original, which is below, but am fascinated with how changing colors causes us to see things in very different ways. Woodland Gem is available through Fine Art America at the following link.

Fine Artist Valorie Snell. Art is What You Think. Asymp; Comments Off on Art is What You Think. I took this photograph on a freezing fall day. I am a photographer and a painter. There are many differences that people always ask about or simply ignore. The painting hanging on the wall is a little different. Well, because it developed the other way around, no pun intended (how many people remember developing? Photography started with taking pictures outside and then moved inside, so they then called it stu...

Fine Artist Valorie Snell. Asymp; Comments Off on Painting Pet Portraits. Ebby in the Ice Plants. Bummi colored pencil on cracked surface. I have been painting pet portraits for a while now and taking photographs too. I just have a huge affection for pets. Especially dogs. The one of the parrot was at a bird fair. I used a flash so that the background would be black. There were two of these birds together on a stand and they were loving having their photo taken. They were it up, if I didnR...I also ta...

Friday, August 29, 2014. I love the wild horses of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. I believe this infrared image of a horse grazing on the sparse vegetation symbolizes the wonderful freedom we enjoy. Colorizing the original black and white adds a sense of drama for me, especially in the sky. I also enjoy the image in its original black and white. Either way, the image speaks to me and I want to share it with others. Click here to see more of my work. Links to this post. Wednesday, August 27, 2014.
