Our time in Oz is almost up! | James Ketchell
http://jamesketchell.net/blog/our-time-in-oz-is-almost-up
Our time in Oz is almost up! Finally after what has been seven weeks of work and frustration at times, the James Lewis is now back in the water. There are many people who have really helped us out and for that, Ash and myself are extremely grateful. We do need to say a special thanks to Jim from Sailfish Marine for the fantastic support he has given us. We have a potential weather window this coming Tuesday and Wednesday so we are hopeful that we can get away. It’s going to be a busy year.

Rescue up date! | James Ketchell
http://jamesketchell.net/blog/rescue-up-date
I’m sure most of you who have been following our journey already know by now that we were rescued at 1pm local time on the 8th July, 200 miles from Geraldton. A 250m crude oil carrier called the Dubai Charm was diverted off course to come to our assistance. It was on scene within two hours after the alarm had been raised. Getting from our small 6m row boat on to this behemoth of an oil tanker was to prove extremely difficult! This afternoon we were able to disembark the Dubai Charm off Fremantle and tran...

A Wet & Windy West Wales. Hey guys, I have now been back on the road for the past couple of days, after taking a rest day in Bristol. I need to say a massive thank you to my friend Sarah for putting up with me, buying me steak, washing my kit and letting me stay in her lovely pristine flat! Do you like it? The South West Done. Hey guys, Today I’m typing this blog from Bristol where I am taking a day off the bike. The sun is shining and there is not a cloud in the sky! The past few days […]. Hi everybody,...

Finally Home! | James Ketchell
http://jamesketchell.net/blog/finally-home
Did I really climb up that ladder to safety? These last three weeks have been really quite surreal, I keep thinking I will wake up and this will have all been a dream and that really I’m still in the boat making my way to Mauritius with Ash. Unfortunately that’s not going to happen and I now have to focus on moving forward. The most popular question that I’m getting now is ‘What’s next? I can tell you that I’m working on a very exciting project for next summer. That’s all I can say for now but more d...

Update: Indian Ocean World Record Challenge 2015 | James Ketchell
http://jamesketchell.net/blog/update-indian-ocean-world-record-challenge-2015
Update: Indian Ocean World Record Challenge 2015. Update from the Communications Team:. Having spoken to James and Ash late last night, their experience in the first 72 hours has been something of an eye-opener. They’ve reached the 250km mark well past the beautiful coral reefs of the Abrolhos Islands 40km West of Geraldton, which just about mark the edge of the continental shelve. Perth Now News – Great White Shark. The rowers are good spirit but the supporting winds they expected haven’t material...

Almost ready to go! | James Ketchell
http://jamesketchell.net/blog/almost-ready-to-go
Almost ready to go! Well quite honestly if someone said that we would still be in Australia after what is going to be the start of our 7th week tomorrow, back in the UK, I would have said, absolutely no chance! But tomorrow is the start of our 7th week. The time has passed extremely quickly, it’s really quite scary. Both Ash and I really want to get out there now! That said, at least we still have a boat and a very good one at that. We just need to get out and row it! In terms of a new departure date, we...

Still Keeping Busy! | James Ketchell
http://jamesketchell.net/blog/still-keeping-busy
I’m sure by now some of you are wondering what’s going on out here in Australia, as we have been back on land for over a week now. The James Lewis is currently undergoing a little bit of structural work to repair some damage from the tow back in. We are also waiting for some parts that are being shipped from the UK which are due to arrive early next week. This is the type of reaction we have been getting everywhere we find ourselves. We eventually left the bar at 11pm after an amazing night! Remember, yo...
