3 Lessons on Marriage from the book of Proverbs. August 11, 2014. The first Proverb that really struck me as I was flipping through was Proverbs 12:18 The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing . This Proverb, and many like it, stresses the value of watching our words. Proverbs 10:19 says, The prudent hold their tongues, and Proverbs 15:28 says, The heart of the righteous weighs its answers. Think before you speak. Be Humble and Seek Correction. Excellent....

July 1, 2014. 8220;Sweet friend, I know how it feels to want to completely shut down when life gets challenging and things happen that we don’t understand. But if we pull away from praying, reading our Bible, and going to church in hard times – we just suffer. If we stay committed to doing those things that keep us connected with God, we will experience an intimacy and power in the midst of our suffering we can’t get any other way.”. Newer posts →. How to Wait Well (When you are Sick and Tired of Waiting). February 12, 2015. February 12, 2015. I’ve seen a great many inspirational quotes out there on the concept of waiting and patience. A few of my favorites are:. Patience is not the ability to wait but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting. Patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one you have in mind. Even miracles take a little time. The Fairy Godmother (Cinderella). When we wait, we can eas...

“It’s Okay that You’re Not Okay…” | Thoughts & Ramblings

8220;It’s Okay that You’re Not Okay…”. September 24, 2014. September 25, 2014. At the core of it, I think I feared that if I didn’t have a good enough attitude, I would be missing out on opportunities to minister to others through my pain. As with most of the lies we tell ourselves, there was some truth mixed in. That our trials are opportunities to point others to the Lord. That having peace amidst a storm is a very powerful testimony to those who are standing by. God was quick to show me that I wasn...

When Life is Not Fair. July 23, 2014. 8220;If I am a good person, if I do good things, etcetera, bad things. 1 I needed to stop buying into the “Prosperity Gospel” message. Obviously pain is not God’s ideal, and obviously sin has a lot to do with it, but the moment I stopped believing that only good things happen to good people was the moment I was able to begin to lean into my suffering. 2 I had to stop comparing my story to others. 8220;how it should be”. 8220;It’s Okay that You Are Okay…”. October 22, 2014. October 22, 2014. A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post entitled, “It’s Okay that You’re Not Okay.”. It’s Okay that You. That statement might seem pretty obvious. “Of course it’s okay that I’m okay! 8221; But as simple as this phrase seems, it is a permissive statement that many need to hear just as much as the opposing. You see, there is a dilemma that often comes up in counseling after a few weeks of work with no progress, which I have dubbed as.

August 27, 2014. August 27, 2014. A favorite verse of mine and one that was read at my husband and I’s wedding is 1 John 4:18:. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. This verse is important not only to remind us of the assurance of God’s love, but also to remind us of the importance of security. In order to move past this unhealthy cycle, it is important to identify those specific. Conflict Phobia, Emotional Perfectionism, Fear of Rejection, P...

Living Gracefully: Lessons from Spin Class. August 20, 2015. August 20, 2015. It’s a typical Thursday. I’m sitting in the back corner of my spin class (better to slack off, my dear), working up a sweat (okay, let’s be real – buckets of sweat), and counting down the minutes until class is over and I’ve successfully worked off the Menchies I ate the night before. I know this may sound strange, but I LOVE. 8220;Grace is muscular strength under control.”. 8220;Blessed are the meek. 8220;Put on then, as God&#...
