Celebrations | Cathlaw Grange

The old water tank in Cathlaw Lane. Celebrations- after 7 months Scottish Power have all of their paperwork done and it's has been passed to their construction team. Now I just have to wait and see how long that will take. Fingers crossed. By the end of this week 7th March the roof will be watertight, all of the dormers finished and ready for the zinc contractors to start. The old water tank in Cathlaw Lane. Its now July 2014. We now have all of the external walls built, the concrete mid floor is in and the windows have started to be fitted. As I was starting with a steel frame building it was going to prove impossible to place precast concrete slabs to form the first floor. The crane would not be able access it. This type of floor construction os more normal in commercial buildings but then nothing is normal on this job. On the 12th June the window supplier started fittin...

The old water tank in Cathlaw Lane. 2014- watch this space. 2014 started fine but the weather has been extremely wet. The roof construction has been going very well but such a huge job. The quantities of materials are frightening. 300 sheets of 50mm Kingspan, 100 sheets of 9mm OSB, 120 sheets of 18mm OSB, 1700m of 75 x 45 timber, 2000m of 45 x 45 timber. When I'm buying boxes of screws its 1000 at a time. Finishing at the beginning of Feb is a bit optimistic probably more likely the end of february.

The old water tank in Cathlaw Lane. The water tank itself dated from about 1905 but prior to that there was a building or steading just called Cathlaw close to the site. This plan dates to about 1800. No one I have spoken to seems to know anything about it so if anyone can enlighten me I would be grateful to hear. The water tank appears on this plan and is marked Linlithgow CCWW which I take to be. Linlithgow County Council Water Works. These two photos are of the original water tank.
