Uncharted Sights: January 2016
http://unchartedsights.blogspot.com/2016_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 19, 2016. Return to the Titan. There were six squadrons deployed throughout five states. Two in Colorado, one in California, one in Idaho, one in Washington and one in South Dakota. Each squadron was deployed in a 3x3 pattern(that is, three bases each equipped with three missiles/silos). Each base had three missiles along with one that would be kept in reserve. This meant that a total of 60 Titan 1 missiles were in operation. Invasion of southern France. Please check out this blog! Stras...

Uncharted Sights: About Me
http://unchartedsights.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html
Abandoned buildings have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. On family trips from Colorado to California, I would always stare in wonder at the assortment of fallen down, forgotten wooden structures we would drive past in the mountains. Tales of forgotten ghost towns and lost treasures just fanned the flame of exploration that I was born with. Thank you for joining with me on my journey to explore and document the forgotten places that hide in our world. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Been trying t...

Uncharted Sights: Orphaned Memories, Remembering A Place That is No More
http://unchartedsights.blogspot.com/2016/02/orphaned-memories-remembering-place.html
Saturday, February 6, 2016. Orphaned Memories, Remembering A Place That is No More. In my backyard, there was a location known as "The Orphanage" or the "Brighton Orphanage." It was a collection of seven buildings sitting abandoned in a field. Three were demolished, but the main house and three other buildings still stood. It was a small location even though there were multiple buildings. The long, tree lined drive up made the location feel ominous for it's small size. It then closed later in 2001. Once ...

Sunday, February 21, 2016. Dear, Oh Dearfield. Driving along Hwy 34 between Greeley and Wiggins, a thick fog hung in the air. Having always wanted to explore a ghost town in a fog setting, I was now even more excited for what lie ahead, the town of Dearfield. Why is it called Dearfield? Well, I am glad you asked. The name Dearfield was suggested by Denver physician and one of the early settlers, Dr. J.H.P. Westbrook, as the land would be very dear to their hearts. At it's peak, Dearfield had over 15,000 ...
