1/2 cup powdered sugar. 1 3/4 cup flour. 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans are best). Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla, flour and chopped nuts. Shape into small balls and placed on ungreased cookie sheet. If dough is sticky, refrigerate 1 hour or so. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool and roll in powdered sugar. Sweet and Sour Pork. A lot of the recipes in Patty's collection, like this one, come from church fundraiser cook books. These are made when members of the congregation submit recipes to be printed in a soft cover bound book and sell them to benefit the church. This recipe is from a cook book printed in San Jose, California in the mid 1970s. 1 pound pork butt. 1 teaspoon soy sauce. 1 pound veggie chicken nuggets (e.g. Morningstar Farms, Trader Joe's) thawed and cubed*. 1 large tomato cut into wedges.

Toad in the Hole. 1 cup all-purpose flour. 189; teaspoons salt. Freshly ground black pepper. 1 pound small, fresh pork sausages (though any small sausages will do, including veggie ones. If you use veggie sausages you can skip all of the drippings business).*. Beat the eggs and salt with a whisk until frothy. Slowly add the flour, beating constantly. Then pour the milk in a thin stream until mixture is smooth and creamy. Refrigerate the batter for at least one hour. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Cornish Pasties (Donna Killian). Turn on floured board and roll out into a narrow strip. Fold into three, turn one of the open ends toward you and roll out again. Do three times. Roll the last time into a circle about 6 inches in diameter. 1/2 lb ground beef. 1/2 cup grated raw potato. Fill Ruff Puff pastry and fold over. Press edges together. Good Food from the Midwest and much, much more! February 4, 2014. Saving It For Later. That Hoppin’ John recipe from last week was delicious. However, in one evening, served over rice and a kale/spinach mix, the recipe left over half the crockpot full of beans. Delicious, flavorful beans. I don’t like eating leftovers, but my income situation says that throwing food away is not the smart way to live. Seriously? Bottom line, we need to eat this again. I’ve got to save these for later. I am sure these.
