Cooking with Two Dudes. Monday, August 23, 2010. Day Eighteen: We Hope Jack White Has Prepared the Fold-Out Couch For Us. No worries on that count right now; we're in the Comfort Inn Music Row in Nashville, TN after a nine-hour-plus day in the car. We got a nice early start this morning and arrived here at about 5 local time. Can I just state for the record: Aeron Chair. You are a lovely beauty-queen of a state. Of all the attractive landscape weve driven through in this Great Nation Of Ours, Tenness...

Cooking with Two Dudes: January 2010

http://cookingwithtwodudes.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Cooking with Two Dudes. Sunday, January 31, 2010. Answer: The egg. Obviously. The age-old question, "Which came first: the chicken or the egg? Thursday, January 14, 2010. Fortunately for me, I have this AMAZING blender. A Vita-Mix. The kind Charlie Trotter tells you might be worth taking out a second mortgage on your house to own. Unfortunately, I broke it last weekend in an incident that now takes a top slot in my very extensive Annals of Stupidity. Here's the story:. And, unfortunately, the Packers lost.

Cooking with Two Dudes. Friday, February 26, 2010. For those of you who are (a) familiar with the French cinema of the Nouvelle Vague, and (b) aware that I am a moron who does not know how to put French accents on my blog, the title of this post will strike you as a clever multilingual pun. The rest of you - tough noogies. My many faithful blog-readers (hi, Mom! Hated the taste, as it turned out: bitter. Thursday, February 11, 2010. PS the one that says "Sweet Cheeks" is for my husband. That is all.

http://cookingwithtwodudes.blogspot.com/2010/08/day-fourteen-you-know-youre-giving-me.html

Cooking with Two Dudes. Friday, August 20, 2010. Day Fourteen: You Know You're Giving Me A Heart Attack-Ack-Ack-Ack-Ack-Ack. In common with Dick Cheney.". So they wheel me up to the cardiac catheterization lab, which oddly-enough turned out to be my happy place. But not at first. The initial five minutes or so of my visit involved the four dudes who run the joint standing around me on the gurney and marveling at my relatively-young age for having a FREAKING HEART ATTACK. Sample quotes: "37? For nearly ei...

False Reckonings: September 2007

Sunday, September 16, 2007. Today started out cool and bright, so we decided to take an early bike ride up to East Rock. Anticipating that we would spend several hours in front of the television in the midafternoon, watching Green Bay play the Giants in New York. It was such a clear day we could see not only Long Island, but the bluffs and buildings on the other side of the Sound:. Posted by Hannah L @ 4:21 PM. Saturday, September 08, 2007. False Reckonings: February 2008

http://moldyedamame.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, February 28, 2008. The Civic Duty Thing. Warning: this gets sanctimonious and ranty. I did my first stint today as a citizen judge in New Haven Superior Court. Having been called to jury duty twice before in Illinois and once served on a criminal trial, I was a little surprised to see so much grumbling so close to the birthplace of American Democracy. Don't like to be bothered? Don't you care that yours is a community where these kinds of things happen to children? I just hope that when the tim...

So I've been giving a lot of thought to cynicism, as I often get stuck in its sway. I don't know if it will work, but I'm going to make an effort to be less cynical. It can't hurt. Edginess is overrated. And those are my hopeful thoughts for today. Posted by Hannah L @ 1:50 PM. Blogs of Our Fathers. Cooking with Two Dudes. In Search of Snow.

Monday, January 21, 2008. Winter in Southern New England. How could we be duped again by the meteorologist hucksters? It never gets cold or snows here. But I'm glad we didn't. The next morning a cold snap moved through. Hallelujah! Cold and snow. Yay. We only had to drive a little over two hours to get it. I guess I can quit whining. Posted by Hannah L @ 3:42 PM. False Reckonings: August 2007

http://moldyedamame.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 29, 2007. The Oldest Turkeys in America. I spent much of July reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. A chapter I particularly enjoyed, though, with nary a raised hackle, described Kingsolver's attempts to raise a breeding flock of turkeys. According to Kingsolver, the vast majority of turkeys raised in the United States are hatched in the early spring, raised to have such enormous breasts that they cannot actually walk (not a problem in factory farms, where they can't move anyway! Behind u...

Sunday, April 20, 2008. Praise the Lord for PowerPoint. Unable to take the cabin fever after a particularly long and hideous Wisconsin winter, my mother visited this past weekend to see some cherry blossoms, nesting bald eagles, and revolutionary war skirmish sites. What better way to welcome the spring? We started off her visit in Northampton, Massachusetts, intending to make our way to the National Yiddish Book Center. The name of the town was changed to help forget the disgrace of the attack. The ...

Saturday, September 24, 2005. Our New Jersey weekend getaway started out in Brooklyn. Spooky gave us a warm welcome (well, in her own way. And by warm I mean the kind where you don't get up from where you're sitting, regard your visitors with indifference, and don't acknowledge their super cool present of two sparkly toys). Air-conditioned) and an exhibit of Russian art from the Orthodox inconographic paintings of the 15th Century to modern stuff just opening that day (and enticingly named RUSSIA! Mansfi...
