Minivans, while completely un-sexy, have an amazing ability to carry untold numbers of people, dogs and all their accompanying "stuff." Last summer (2007) my dog rescue friend Debi, her four school age kids and three medium to large breed dogs in addition to myself and my two German Shepherds all piled into her light blue minivan and traveled from Austin, Texas to spend a fabulous week at Cottonwood Lake.

Colorado has had an especially cold and snowy October and November thus far. And this afternoon was no exception. Snowfall was coming down at Cottonwood Lake (west of Buena Vista. And I thought I'd snap some pictures and show the winter scenery by video. As you can see, a bunch of folks were out playing ice hockey on the lake. That looks like so much fun!

Fall Foliage in Colorado's Mountains. September 28, 2014. I was bicycling on Chaffee County Road 306 (west of Buena Vista, Colorado) when this stunning mountain scene with fall foliage caught my eye. This particular road is Chaffee County Road 344, which leads to Cottonwood Lake. Most of trees with foliage are aspens. They mostly change to yellow/golden leaves, but a few turn orange and red.
