The Crafty Quilter's Closet: November 2014
http://thecraftyquilter.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
The Crafty Quilter's Closet. The exploits, adventures and down right silliness of the crafty quilter. Does it annoy you? Or is it just me? You knit up a pair of socks, which you love and adore. But then you have this smallish amount of leftover sock yarn. It is never enough to make a third sock. It just sits there in my yarn bin. Occasionally I think about tossing it, giving it away or finding something to use it for but mostly it just takes up space. Annoying. Gusto pattern by Laura Nelkin. Fortunately ...

The Crafty Quilter's Closet: Wreath
http://thecraftyquilter.blogspot.com/p/wreath.html
The Crafty Quilter's Closet. The exploits, adventures and down right silliness of the crafty quilter. I made a simple wreath design from grapevine and artificial greenery in May of this year. On the wreath I attached 2 clothes pins to hang quilt blocks with. Over the next 12 months I plan to make 12 different blocks to decorate this wreath. The idea is to swap out the blocks, which are quilted and bound, for each month, holiday or special event. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Ellen Bag Pattern.

The Crafty Quilter's Closet: Spring flowers
http://thecraftyquilter.blogspot.com/2015/03/spring-flowers.html
The Crafty Quilter's Closet. The exploits, adventures and down right silliness of the crafty quilter. The last several days have been beautiful! With temperatures in the 80's spring is here (perhaps not here but close). The trees and shrubs loaded with buds ready to burst. I have even seen spring flowers. Many of the early bloomers are out! Daffodils, phlox and magnolias are blooming, pushing away the gray dreary days. Thursday, March 12, 2015. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Ellen Bag Pattern.

The Crafty Quilter's Closet: January 2015
http://thecraftyquilter.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
The Crafty Quilter's Closet. The exploits, adventures and down right silliness of the crafty quilter. If you have a Dinning room table chances are at one time or another you have had a table runner displayed. I have several that I rotate throughout the year. Some are old, very old, crocheted by my great grandmother. Some are quite new. Regardless I think they add an element of sophistication to my Dinning table. I ended up making three total. All bright and cheery. Friday, January 16, 2015. Speaking of b...

The Crafty Quilter's Closet: February 2015
http://thecraftyquilter.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
The Crafty Quilter's Closet. The exploits, adventures and down right silliness of the crafty quilter. While sewing on Tuesday evening I ran out of black thread. Hey. It happens. I took out a new spool and threaded my machine. As I have done every time I end a spool of thread for the past year I tossed the empty spool into a bucket. Then I paused. Twenty one. Twenty one spools of thread from 200m to 5000m. Black, white and every color in-between (although admittedly mostly white). Links to this post.

The Crafty Quilter's Closet: July 2014
http://thecraftyquilter.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
The Crafty Quilter's Closet. The exploits, adventures and down right silliness of the crafty quilter. Over the weekend I found this pouch tutorial from Noodlehead. (Here's the link). The very same blog where I found the cargo bag pattern. Awesome. This is her Open Wide Zippered Pouch. I love that these pouches have the extra long zipper and the cute little zipper tag! That almost never happens. Sadly I am feeling the need to make the largest size, which means buying more fabric. Tuesday, July 29, 2014.

The Crafty Quilter's Closet: October 2014
http://thecraftyquilter.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
The Crafty Quilter's Closet. The exploits, adventures and down right silliness of the crafty quilter. A couple of months ago I was contacted by a woman who had recently lost her mother. She had heard about some of the t-shirt quilts I had made and wondered if I would be able to make a quilt our of her mothers clothing. After seeing that she had more than enough clothes I set to work on this beauty. She had chosen a lattice quilt pattern to set off the prints and patterns in her mother's clothes. George's...

The Crafty Quilter's Closet: Bee blocks
http://thecraftyquilter.blogspot.com/2015/02/bee-blocks.html
The Crafty Quilter's Closet. The exploits, adventures and down right silliness of the crafty quilter. This year I decided to join a charity group to help make quilts for children. This particular charity, My Very Own Blanket. Donates blankets to kids in foster care. Through out the year the members of the group make blocks and send them to the quilter. The quilter stitches the blocks together to for a quilt top and then completes the top. Tutorial (again something new for me) done by Bee In my Bonnet.
