My Antarctic Adventure: Sunday 6th April 2014

http://www.craighayhow.blogspot.com/2014/04/sunday-6th-april-2014.html

Monday, 7 April 2014. Sunday 6th April 2014. WEATHER CONDITIONS: Mainly clearly skies, some light scattered cloud. Light winds. LATITUDE: 66.22S LONGITUDE: 60.00E. SEA TEMPERATURE: -1.8c. Last night there was another great display of auroras all night and some of us got some great photos braving the minus twenty eight degree temperature. Radio propagation today was quite lousy, but I did manage to contact two stations in Namibia. 1 May 2014 at 11:04. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sunday, 13 April 2014. Monday 7th April 2014. WEATHER CONDITIONS: Clearly skies and light winds. LATITUDE: 66.08S LONGITUDE: 59.09E. SEA TEMPERATURE: -1.8c. At five o’clock we had a BBQ outside on the trawl deck in minus twenty five degrees to celebrate the successful resupply. We were given a couple of light beers each but these froze solid in your hand in about two minutes so you pretty much had to scull them if you wanted a drink. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Monday, 7 April 2014. Wednesday 2nd April 2014. Our horizon looks like we have a vast number ice berg “skyscrapers” at the moment when in fact that is not the case. It is easy to see how these types of mirages caused navigation problems for early explorers. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tuesday 1st April 2014. Wednesday 2nd April 2014. Chris & John's Travel Log: March 2014

http://chrisjohntravellog.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Chris and Johns Travel Log. Thursday, 6 March 2014. As with most of the lakes and large rivers over here, the shoreline is dotted with both permanent and holiday houses, some of which are quite expansive, while others are very ordinary. Our dinner at the local Mexican restaurant was excellent. The name probably comes from the fact that moose often struggle during the winter with 'winter ticks' which infest them in the thousands and often cause the moose to scratch off a lot of their coat. The ticks a...

Chris & John's Travel Log: January 2015

http://chrisjohntravellog.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Chris and Johns Travel Log. Sunday, 4 January 2015. NEW SOUTH WALES SOUTH COAST. Wonboyn Lake turned out to be a lovely place. When we first arrived at the caravan park, we thought ‘what the? The local satin bower bird had built a bower across the road from the park. We drove out to Nadgee Nature Reserve which is typical coastal scrub with lots of really big banksia trees. This half opened banksia flower turns into the pod below -. Inspiration for May Gibb's big bad Banksia Men. While at Bega we paid a v...

Chris & John's Travel Log: July 2014

http://chrisjohntravellog.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Chris and Johns Travel Log. Monday, 7 July 2014. ITALY, SWITZERLAND, GERMANY - A ROAD TRIP. 8220;But we have paid for two days and we are three hours early leaving” said John, only to be informed that it was one more euro and that was that. When asked why he hadn’t informed us about the ten minute caper, he said he didn’t have to tell us. Unfortunately this was an attitude that often surfaced in Austria and France. They certainly aren’t service orientated. That's the road hugging the gorge at left. We ha...

Chris & John's Travel Log: April 2013

http://chrisjohntravellog.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Chris and Johns Travel Log. Tuesday, 23 April 2013. Driving from the Clare Valley we went east through Kapunda and Angaston in the Barossa Valley and lots more vineyards. View from Eden Valley Lookout, looking to the eastern. Escarpment of the Mount Lofty Ranges. The countryside becomes more rugged as you come down off the ranges. Looking from the escarpment down to the Murray River floodplains. The road to Mannum followed the pipeline which runs all the way to Adelaide. And today is the venue for. He la...

Chris & John's Travel Log: OUR 2008 AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE ODYSSEY

http://chrisjohntravellog.blogspot.com/2015/07/our-2008-american-motorcycle-odyssey.html

Chris and Johns Travel Log. Sunday, 19 July 2015. OUR 2008 AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE ODYSSEY. That's the only way to describe our ride through the west coast of USA and Canada in 2008. After 70 days on the road, John and I found it very difficult to drop the bikes at the shipping agents and get on a plane back to reality. The bikes snug in their cradles ready for shipping. Our first stop in Hawaii was Honolulu where we spent 4. Would you believe this is a cop car? There is still oil floating around the wreck!

Chris & John's Travel Log: June 2014

http://chrisjohntravellog.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Chris and Johns Travel Log. Wednesday, 25 June 2014. The drive from Vienna to Hallstatt was really picturesque. We weren’t in a hurry so we could take the minor roads and enjoy the scenery which grew more and more specky as we neared the village. The weather was perfect and we saw people were taking full advantage of it, out hiking, canoeing etc. The roadside comfort stops left a bit to be desired. There wasn't even a hole or a drum under there! We both got hit by stinging nettles in the carpark. We had ...

Chris & John's Travel Log: December 2014

http://chrisjohntravellog.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Chris and Johns Travel Log. Wednesday, 10 December 2014. VICTORIA/NEW SOUTH WALES HIGH COUNTRY. King River at Edi Cutting. Some unusual scenery on the road to Lake Cobbler. The scenery was lovely and the road in good condition. One of the many shelters provided for hikers in the high country. We took a short walk to the top of the waterfall we had. Seen from the road on our way to the lake. We crossed this lovely little creek on our walk. Most of the native flowers seem to be white. On Saturday we drove ...

Chris & John's Travel Log: January 2013

http://chrisjohntravellog.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Chris and Johns Travel Log. Thursday, 24 January 2013. TASMANIA 11 - THE NORTH COAST. We probably also loved the place because, even without the tinny, we could still catch a feed of fish and abalone. John jumped into his wetsuit on day 2 and within half an hour had eight lovely green lipped abalone. With directions as to how to prepare them and a taste of some cooked in lemon pepper from some hospitable locals, we managed to have a beautiful meal that night. Our camp below The Nut. Highfield from The Nut.

Chris and Johns Travel Log. Monday, 17 June 2013. COLLINSVILLE and EUNGELLA, CENTRAL QUEENSLAND. The deer are well camouflaged. Can you see them? Our next stop was Bowen River Hotel where we enjoyed taking a look through all the memorabilia before a lovely lunch on the verandah, accompanied by the local butcher birds. The historic Bowen River Pub, built from raw cut timber slabs. Chris, Hope and John. Our lovely camp on the Bowen River. John keeps an eye open for crocs. They frequent these waters. From t...

CRAIG HAWKSLEY...COMEDIAN

Saturday, June 11, 2011. It's FATHER'S DAY.So Give US What WE Want! The day when wives, mothers and children get us stuff that. Think we want. It seems that no one takes time to get to know the man; to understand him; to pay attention to the hints he leaves laying around the house like underwear and socks. So let me roll it to you: Here's what WE want for Father's Day. Pair of corncob holders, four stainless steel steak knives, and a bristly brush for scraping the grill clean.". An Argument-Free, “...
