Random Musings about Industrial Archaeology in London, Britain and Europe as well as a little Genealogy. Tuesday, 31 March 2015. In My Liverpool Home - Part One. I've just got back from a weekend visit to my elder daughter in Liverpool, somewhere I now think of as my spiritual home. I got to thinking of why this was. When I was a teenager the Beatles were my heroes as well as the rest of the bands producing what is now the Mersey Sound. Then my daughter went to John Moores University and never came home!

Random Musings about Industrial Archaeology in London, Britain and Europe as well as a little Genealogy. Thursday, 7 May 2015. I have been knitting and crocheting almost as long as I can remember, having been taught by my mother. In those days it was 4 ply wool with small needles - not so easy for little fingers! I didn't make much money but I enjoyed it. Then I went back to work and when the children were in their teens I completed only a few projects, crochet handbag, colourful cardies but little else ...

Random Musings about Industrial Archaeology in London, Britain and Europe as well as a little Genealogy. Wednesday, 14 December 2011. After the excitement of preparing some genealogical charts for the new book on Brindley. I am now involved with the research into another famous engineer and his family. Peter Barlow. His two sons, Peter William. Its amazing what the internet can give us. After some researches at the London Metropolitan Archive and the British Library I found on the searchable database...

Random Musings about Industrial Archaeology in London, Britain and Europe as well as a little Genealogy. Wednesday, 14 March 2012. Very little it seems! I can't belive I haven't blogged since Christmas - has so little happened? In a way - yes! I have also been doing much more family history. The Mormon Family History Centre. To look at Ancestry for free. I have been looking at records for other people who are compiling family histories, either for books or personal interest. PS I had forgotten to say how...

Coventry is, of course, best known for car manufacture and we will see a surprising number of factories which still remain, including the former Poppe and White engine works in Foleshill. Sadly car production has moved elsewhere! Further details can be found at. So do come and join us if you want to find out more about England's 'Motown'. Glias Lect...

Random Musings about Industrial Archaeology in London, Britain and Europe as well as a little Genealogy. Sunday, 24 February 2013. Its three weeks short of a year since I last blogged. Just never felt like it. Morale has been ebbing away just as our Head is forcing everyone to work harder to do well in our next Ofsted. So when my inheritance came through I was really keen to leave. But now that the farewells have been made and I have spent the gift vouchers on a Kobo, I am at a loss as to what to do next!

Random Musings about Industrial Archaeology in London, Britain and Europe as well as a little Genealogy. Tuesday, 29 November 2011. A Year Ago Today. A year today since Mum died - difficult to remember back to the horrendous weather at this time last year. London snowed in as was Derbyshire. It took nearly a fortnight to have the funeral. It seems such a long time and yet such a short time. I am also surprised at how often I say to myself, 'I must remember to tell Mum about that'! Links to this post.
