Happy Fourth of July! August yard bird →. A moment in time. July 14, 2015. Deep in the dark woods, in a pouring rain, late in the evening, a fox parent comes back to the den empty handed. A tender moment. Do not lament! These kits look pretty healthy. Teton Park. Near some campsites. Manual, f4, 125th,500mm 1600 iso. This entry was posted in animals. And tagged animals in Teton Park. What a way to go | Horses I Have Known
https://fsblogs.wordpress.com/2013/02/01/what-a-way-to-go
Horses I Have Known. Forest Service range cons tell the stories about those horses or mules that have been a part of our adventures. What a way to go. This story doesn’t focus on any particular horse or mule, but it couldn’t have happened without them. They hauled all our stuff. Plus I had some fun photos, so wrote and posted it anyway. What the heck. By the time we got back to Scuffies most of the gear was packed and ready to load on the mules. They hadn’t saddled our horses, there was a limit to wh...
Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think: May 2015
http://retiredbicycle.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think. Saturday, May 30, 2015. We came to Show Low based on reading about the White Mountains trail system on the blog, Occupation of Independence. Now that Jim and I are older, we enjoy the rocky technical trails much less than we used to. The enjoyment of the challenge of negotiating the rocks is now out weighed by my desire to not be maimed. It just takes too long to heal. Tomorrow we'll return with the bikes, and enjoy some suffering at 6,750 feet.

Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think. Friday, August 1, 2014. Seafair Weekend and The Blue Angels. The bridge, she is closed. There's a dog in the back seat, the air conditioning was running for him for the entire event. I think it's pretty amazing that they close the bridge and have an air show over the lake in a densely populated area. This was the opening act. They are the Patriots Jet Team. Later in the show, another Huey came in and took them away. Is a Marine plane. It's...

Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think. Friday, December 26, 2014. Back to the Tortolitas. Christmas Day we went back up to the Tortolitas. This time we did the Lower Javelina trail. It's a very nice loop. It has some up down, but is not as steep as Upper Javelina. It was a very enjoyable walk. We love that area, it is so pretty and quiet. It makes us feel very peaceful when we're out there. It's a long drive, but hey, it was Christmas! Thursday, December 25, 2014. Since we were all...

Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think. Monday, June 29, 2015. Harrisburg OR to Issaquah WA. Saturday we made the drive from Harrisburg OR to Issaquah WA. It was a terrible drive. Somewhere south of Olympia there had been a car accident. The backup was 4 miles long, with frequent stoppage. Here is Jim, not driving. Here is the traffic. When we reached the point where the GPS on the phone showed the freeway going from red to green, there was nothing! On the left is the Dome of Tacoma.

Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think. Saturday, March 28, 2015. McDowell continues to be a superb place to ride. The poppies and lupines and much of the yellow ground cover are turning a little brown, but it's still nice to be here. The cactus bloom continues; it's kind of cool to be riding through a browning landscape and see a flash of color out of the corner of your eye. The purples are just fluorescent they are so bright. We're going to make our way into the traffic hell that ...

Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think. Thursday, July 17, 2014. A front pushed in overnight, bringing clouds, much cooler air and some wind. We decided to do our annual walk through Seattle to see what we would see. Traffic-geddon starts Friday evening so today was a good day for it. This is a Starbucks at Pike Place Market. This is the line to get into that Starbucks. This is Seattle. There is coffee everywhere. Why would you stand in line for an over roasted, over priced coffee?

Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Blue Angels and Walking in Bellevue. Today was the first day of the Blue Angels' practice flights. We elected not to ride out and stand on the bridge deck to watch them fly as we did last year. It's too hot, it's back up into the 90s and I am suffering with it. I swiped these pictures of the practice off the web. The mountain was out, as well. Monday, July 27, 2015. The Sun Shines on Seattle. The Issaquah micro-climate...

Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think. Sunday, November 30, 2014. The Rillito Farmer's Market. We rode up to the Rillito Farmer's Market this morning. First we had a nosh at a Starbucks on River. It was a very pleasant nosh. There is outdoor seating on fake grass. We were able to get a table with enough chairs so it was good. Then it was on to the farmer's market. However, there was Emu oil, for your squeaking emus. Sprouts of many sorts. I love Christmas cacti. This section of tra...

Allison's Post Work Thinking - now that I have time to think. Saturday, February 28, 2015. A Late February Whine. Have you missed me? There has been some discontent, sturm und drang, and kvetching since my last post. I always dither about writing posts detailing my unhappiness with things and situations. Do people want to read about it, or are the happy posts the ones that please the reader? Late February has been a weird weather month. The last few days have been very. There has been overcast. The bicyc...

December 24, 2017. Hope everyone is having a cozy winter. (Above is a Veridian Flycatcher, phone photo of the back of my camera.). My computer died the slow death. It was very old. Surprised it lasted 13 yrs. So I will be posting phone photos til I get it replaced. Who knows when that will be. I am in Tuscon Az area and yes had some freezing nights. A little more south east, while I was photographing cranes, the nights there were 15 degrees! September 13, 2017. Was it born this way? September 12, 2017.
