Deborah Lightfoot's Poetry and Photo Blog: February 2013
http://deborahlightfoot.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
O how the sap floods. Thursday, February 7, 2013. The sky, layered in textured and roiling grays,. Submerged a dull orange-red. Into the morning's horizon of the lake and. Gave background to water birds. Perching high in February's bare trees. With necks hooked and silhouetted,. They watched the clouds,. Never seeming to notice. A hawk as it flew by. With a fish in its claws. The light, limited and superb, escaping. Polished the tree limbs shining and. White as crooked bones beseeching the gods,.
Deborah Lightfoot's Poetry and Photo Blog: November 2012
http://deborahlightfoot.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
O how the sap floods. Sunday, November 25, 2012. Harmony, Two Cats, Two Vases. Harmony sang a balm. For sins however adolescently. Committed as orange light bathed a room. It sang of my green eyes—I’m sure that’s why. You loved that song, but the light. Enchantment fled. Was my hair not. You didn’t want. To share two cats in the yard. That we would call. Except for just one minute). The flowers wilted in the vase. But I bought a new one today. The Black Friday Before Christmas. I woke up at 5:00,. When I...

http://deborahlightfoot.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
O how the sap floods. Sunday, December 30, 2012. The mirror of wrinkles. And bending form,. The smoke of graying hair. And race them closer to. What will be left to her. But what the feeble have:. A weakened mind and. Confusion assails these interim years. As composure and creation reel into. A crevasse, the rumored. As life becoms uncharted,. Spinning mercilessly between the. And the rocks on the shore. That can no longer. But then the reader considers,. Raising her eyes from the text:.
Deborah Lightfoot's Poetry and Photo Blog: January 2013
http://deborahlightfoot.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
O how the sap floods. Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Cat Stevens and Sweet Baby James and Beatles. And Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Sing love songs and break-up songs from so long ago sung. To fresh brave and newly chapped faces. Later played at a constant beat. On tape decks and radios. In breezy cars that drove by houses on hot summer nights. While we rode shotgun in best friends' cars. To drag out the dousing with tears the smiles. Of the rain and the fire. That came later as you set off on your own. Can y...
Deborah Lightfoot's Poetry and Photo Blog: March 2013
http://deborahlightfoot.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
O how the sap floods. Saturday, March 30, 2013. Love Poem, Inspired by the Bards. Love is deeper than any sea that. I thought I would ever scavenge,. A rough and roiling voyage-. Not a frolic in a pond. Which only breathes of fronds and polliwogs. Love is not Ophelia's barge entombed. With weeds which drifted her unto death. Love leaks in floodwaters of despair, yet. Builds a lighthouse to guide the valiant bark. Home to its craggy shore. Love is not the perpetual trumping by a hero's antics. To the tedi...

Move Your Feet | Thoughts Have Wings

The Third Place of Dee Martin. More time moving, less time talking. Prescription for what ails us all. When angered take yourself a walking. Footsteps echo down a dark hall. Throw the locked doors open wide. More time moving, less time talking. Swing your arms, lengthen your stride. Eyes wide open at beauty gawking. Find the peace that has been lacking. Heal the cuts and bruises over. More time moving, less time talking. Breathe the air and smell the clover. World looks better a little blurred. I Had The...
we are all having so much fun… | Thoughts Have Wings

The Third Place of Dee Martin. We are all having so much fun…. I had thought about trying nanowrimo again this year but I just do not feel it. I feel like the poster-child for Murphy’s law. What can go wrong…will. I am back at work and that is helping keep my mind off it. I am trying to concentrate on my health, find a balance between rest and exercise and a balance between what I cannot eat while I am on this blood thinner and eating healthy. The Weight of Anger | Thoughts Have Wings

The Third Place of Dee Martin. The Weight of Anger. The weight of anger. Dragging the heart down to the. Level of nothing good. No laughter, no singing. It steals your voice and takes. All your choices for itself. It changes all the colors like. Some bad adjustment, all tinged with. Mad, sad, hurt, can’t even separate the parts. The heart beats faster and I hear. That tone in my voice you know. The one that sounds like. A banshee, like fingernails. Like a lonely cat. Back up, fur bristled. Confessions of...

The Third Place of Dee Martin. Welcome to Night Wings a serial novel in progress. I hope you enjoy reading the story half as much as I am enjoying writing it. Night Wings is geared toward Young Adults. War upon war nearly destroyed us. We were decimated and many of the technological strides we made were lost. Power grows in the hands of Mekaneks who depend on machines nearly to the point of worship. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Your email address will not be published. Subscribe in a reader. The View From Here | Thoughts Have Wings
http://www.delenemartin.com/2015/08/01/the-view-from-here
The Third Place of Dee Martin. The View From Here. Endless conversations with each other and with God. Fall again and again on deaf ears, an effort odd. In that the talk is not the walk and hearts are never. In the mix we want to fix but no one touches ever. What we know, we KNOW is always at the center there’s a door. We knock and knock and kick the wood but cannot enter. Like a monkey grasps his food and keeps his hand so stuck so frozen. Our rotten self and staunch the bleeding, no one’s leading.

The Third Place of Dee Martin. My work was selected for part of an exhibit and publication! Http:/ www.parispoetssociety.com. This entry was posted in Poetry. August 18, 2016. What Are We To Do. I was honored to present this at church. After torturing my husband with practicing all week I was able to do it without reading every word. The news has been so bad lately, it makes you question everything and this was my way of trying to figure things out. What are we to do when evil. Whispers to us from the tv,.

Deborah Lightfoot's Poetry and Photo Blog
O how the sap floods. Thursday, September 12, 2013. Night nibbles at the margins. Of the day, yearning for its page. To be read all the way up to dawn-. A book we can't put down. Until dreams illustrate its musings:. Upon discovery, and. A thousand nights stowed away. Threatens to awaken us- but. Does not have the kindness. Monday, April 29, 2013. Leaning against the door. To hear the hum and. To feel the reverberations,. To absorb the rush of life. Outside that other door-. The electricity of connections.

There is a level of patience required to create my underwater work and I feel that the calmness that exists during those times permeates the finished piece. Perhaps that serenity is why people linger while looking at the prints; maybe it's in order to take in the small details that we tend to ignore when we are above the water's surface.
