Gardening in the Deep South: April 2007
http://deepsouthgarden.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Gardening in the Deep South. My gardening adventures in uptown New Orleans. April 21, 2007. A lot happens in a garden when you don't go for 3 weeks. Everything is markedly bigger! The cilando (lower right) has really taken off and has started to bolt. The parsley (lower left) is starting to do well. It's getting too warm for lettuce and spinach so today I pulled it up and thinned the herbs a lot. And planted 4 bell pepper plants. Future okra - see the three small buds? It's a little blurry).

Gardening in the Deep South. My gardening adventures in uptown New Orleans. March 14, 2010. It was a very long, cold winter this year. But finally it's safe to plant the spring garden. This year I get to use the great planters my husband built last year. There will still be plants in pots of course. Gerber daisies for color. Herbs: thyme, oregano, mint and cilantro. Our Meyer lemon tree is bursting with buds and flowers! These are all new varieties for me: Garden Peach, Prue and Yellow Plum.

Gardening in the Deep South: June 5, 2009
http://deepsouthgarden.blogspot.com/2009/06/june-5-2009.html
Gardening in the Deep South. My gardening adventures in uptown New Orleans. June 5, 2009. The hops is growing like crazy. Cucumbers needed additional support. Basil has sprouted. But not marigolds or tomatoes. Those were from my own seeds so they might not. I cut the lettuce all the way back a week or so ago and it started coming back. So I'll see what happens. I caught Twin sleeping in this planter! She likes sleeping in dirt-weird cat. Gonzo watches me through the window. Dan Gill's articles in the T-P.

Gardening in the Deep South. My gardening adventures in uptown New Orleans. April 18, 2009. Last weekend I fertilized everything so it's all been growing like mad. A new addition to the container garden. my husband is trying to grow hops. He's a home brewer. So he wants to use them in his beers. Our poor lemon tree has been stripped by caterpillars. I never see them but you can see the damage. Has tripled in size! Look at all the flowers! If all goes well I should have a bumper crop. A shy little lizard.

Sunday, March 10, 2013. I've ridden bikes my whole life, for transportation and for fun. I moved to New Orleans with a racing bike that got stolen. I bought a "hybrid" Trek that is really great for riding on trails and off-road but not really good for tooling around town OR crappy New Orleans streets. I've slowly been tricking it out. Today I added the rear basket. I have a cup holder, rear view mirror, horn, light and little pouch that holds my iPhone so I can see the screen. It's been such a rainy wint...

Tuesday, February 04, 2014. It's all down hill to Mardi Gras now. My last post was 1/7 so it's been less than a month since I posted last. Woot! Let's see, what has happened in the last month. And even though I was sick as a dog there was no way I'd miss the P ussyfooter's Blush Ball. Took We sold out and exceed our fundraising goal, ending up giving METRO $34,000! Saturday, July 28, 2012. A New Purrpose in Life. I'm not going to start this post talking about how it's been such a long time since I posted. Oh wait, I guess I just did. My excuse? Who taught computer classes at Delgado had to take one? The advisor who enrolled me asked if I had taken one when I was at FSU. HA! Will I still apply for the vet tech program? Not sure yet. There are a few other classes I can take that are required for graduation but not to apply that I can go ahead and get out of the w...

Saturday, October 12, 2013. Somebody went to New Orleans and all I got was this lousy t-shirt. My next post was going to be about all the road construction going on in New Orleans, but before I could do that, I was over on the Yellow Blog. Where I discovered that things are heating up over at the French Market. Comments made by the new director, Jon Smith, have angered some French Market vendors. The vendors were already ticked off by changes made in Market rules in 2012 and they filed a lawsuit. Crawfis...

Sunday, September 02, 2012. Back home and am writing this post from my computer instead of my phone! We headed back to our cousins for showers and AC. Friends called asking to borrow our air mattresses. The power was on at her office and they were going to sleep there if the power at their house didn't come back on. We met them at our house to give them the mattresses, then met up with the Seminole Club people to watch the FSU game at a restaurant (FSU creamed Murry State 69-3! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Monday, September 16, 2013. I attended another Rising Tide. This year and it has inspired me to blog more. The New Orleans blog sphere that rose up after Katrina has settled down with many of the people, myself included, blogging less or not at all. It's always nice to see the people I used to read almost daily. Plus the conference always has good content, a great lunch and refreshments.* A bargain at only $20 a ticket. This year I spent most of my time in " Tech School. And thanks for the shout out!

http://nolacleophatra.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 31, 2012. Issac Aftermath part 2. Got mail delivered today. Was hoping trash would be picked up but no. Power still out but saw trucks around. Walked up Magazine Street to Jefferson-no power. PJ's had iced coffee so we both got one and walked back home. Our neighbor Bill left a copy of today's paper for us. So tired and the heat really saps your energy. Wednesday, August 29, 2012. It's pretty hot and sticky so I opened the door on our side porch that's covered to get some air movement.

Gardening in the Deep South
Gardening in the Deep South. My gardening adventures in uptown New Orleans. March 21, 2010. A cold front moved through last night and everything got a good soaking. It was chilly today but that didn't stop me. The herbs have perked up now they have been transplanted. The sweet pepper is starting off well. The cucumber I seeded last weekend. I discovered these tulip bulbs while organizing gardening stuff. I bought some flowering tulips, (Don't remember when. Last year? A gardening experiment: grapes!
