Ultrasound Interest Group
The UCLA UltraFest 2016 Official Registration is open! Ultrafest is a one-day teaching event that has previously required UCLA students to travel to other medical schools in southern California. This coming Feburary, UCLA students can expect to receive on-campus, hands-on experience with ultrasound from many specialties (OB/GYN, Cardiology, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Surgery, etc.). RENEW
RENEW (Recovering Equipment for Nations EveryWhere) is a joint project between the students of the David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Health. Our mission is to bridge the health resources gap and reduce waste, by donating unused medical supplies from UCLA Health to UCLA-affiliated global health missions. We coordinate the collection and distribution of these supplies to UCLA-based volunteer groups and individuals traveling abroad to deliver health care to underserved communities.

Our recent work has led to the identification of Dpr/DIP protein families as potential regulators of synaptic specificity between neurons in Drosophila. Different Dpr/DIP pairs are seen on different synaptic partners. We have used RNA sequencing technology to discover molecular pathways regulating the patterning of the mouse retina. We are exploring how dendrites of rod bipolar neurons (green) and cone bipolar neurons (red) form connections with rod and cone photoreceptor neurons, respectively. Our labor...
