Disease motifs can be small amino acid sequences which may link certain microbial pathogens to some of the most serious diseases that affect man such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, CJD, Multiple Sclerosis, or Cancer. They also may just illustrate the biomechanics of the disease pathway in which proteins behave differently then they would do in a none-diseased state i.e. regardless of whether the cause of a disease is due to microbial pathogen or not.
