Teaching our children to be kind and compassionate to others is commonplace. However, many of us are not taught to extend this common courtesy to ourselves, and this makes it next to impossible to be loving to others. Usually when someone says something rude, it is not about you at all. It is typically a reflection of their own comparison to you.

Thursday, January 9, 2014. There Must Be Something About This Time of Year. There is nothing special about today except that I am recovering from a stomach flu, which is normal for many people, except that this experience brought back an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my life. My husband took excellent care of me even though he was sick too. Magically, family was able to help out by picking the kids up from school so I could remain in bed, sleeping most of the day.
