They set up a marketplace, with many villagers lining up side by side with their handicrafts. they lined up on both sides and we all walked through the center, hearing their appeals to buy their goods. the girls purchased their beaded welcome necklaces and we bought a few other gifts. At the trout farm, we ate.trout. it came barbequed, whole. they offered to remove the heads for us. that wasn't enough for shayna who also requested the removal of the tail. they obliged. marc fileted the fish for the family. ruben would be proud. marc dollinger, mountain man and adventurer! Monday, January 5, 2009. Crossing the Equator and Malai Saba. 1/3/09 Today it was off to our new destination.our camp on Menegai Crater and a visit to Lake Nakuru. It was a very long and treacherous journey from Samburu to Lake Nakuru, crossing the equator. We head out for another 2 hours of driving, this time on paved roads, and many kenyan kids waving at us as we drove. At 430 pm, we headed to the nearby masai village for a tour. we were greeted by one of the warriors who told of the masai. the men and women each performed their welcome dance for us. of course, we were all welcomed to join in the dancing and we did.
