shreds and tatters: I+SEW+Sceles
http://shredsandtatters.blogspot.com/2012/08/isewsceles.html
Thursday, August 9, 2012. I love a play on words and this next project is just that, and will be figurative, with a nod to geometry and a little bit of quilting thrown in for good measure. There's a deadline. I sure hope I can pull it off. Here's a picture of some of the major components as they stand today. She's slated to be part of the TAODA exhibit at Houston's International Quilt Festival in a couple of months. Isosceles. Get it? Thank you for stopping by. Please come back to follow my progress.

shreds and tatters: August 2008
http://shredsandtatters.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 11, 2008. Well, I've been putting off this thing of setting up a blog. Today is the day. Monday, August 11, 2008, I launch myself and my dollmaking. out there. Why did I choose 'shredsandtatters' as my blog identity? Will instill some order in an often scattered mind. I know everyone has more to do than the time to do it in, so I'm in good company there. And really do want viewers of my work there to have a link to another spot on the web where more of my work can be seen. Okay, she doesn'...

shreds and tatters: October 2012
http://shredsandtatters.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 14, 2012. And sew it goes . I toyed with the title 'Celebrate Geometry.' Many quilts already do celebrate geometry. The term 'isosceles' came into focus . I remembered it from high school geometry class. Loving a play on words, I coined 'I*SEW*sceles,' and selected some fabrics from my stash of quilt prints. They were blue. 'I*SEW*sceles Blue' came to be. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). One artist's perspective . In case you wondered what marsha looks like . View my complete profile.

shreds and tatters: artist statement
http://shredsandtatters.blogspot.com/p/artist-statement.html
My journey into figurative assemblage began in 1998 at a workshop on making one-of-a-kind dolls. At this workshop, I expected to learn some skills that would lead to an income stream I could generate from home by making and selling artist dolls. What I found instead was a partially open door to the figure as art. As my journey continues into this figurative art, I look for opportunities to add depictions of the coastal lifestyle which I enjoy now in the city of my birth. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

shreds and tatters: gallery
http://shredsandtatters.blogspot.com/p/gallery.html
This doll is sculpted in polymer clay to illustrate the concept of the title. The figure sits in an embellished wooden shadow box and hangs on the wall from a copper hanger. His costume is hand dyed and sewn from silk and cotton. This piece is in a private collection. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 11:01:00 AM. Saturday, August 03, 2013 3:55:00 PM. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Having to cancel my plans to attend ODACA Day in Atlanta this summer made it even more important that I send a helper donation for the event. I'm still going to be dividing my studio time between dolls and my new-found love paper arts / collage. Life is full . check back to see this project finished . Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). shreds and tatters: treasure
http://shredsandtatters.blogspot.com/2012/08/treasure.html
Monday, August 13, 2012. Introducing my treasure: my mom's old Pfaff 130! I learned to sew on it when I was a teen. I don't think my mom would mind that I made the change. I can't wait to get it set up and sewing up a storm. I'll post another picture here when the studio setup is ready to go . without cardboard boxes in the background. You may have read in an earlier post that my other sewing machine, a Simplicity portable, has a name. She is Lucille. The Pfaff needs a name, too, don't you think. One of t...

shreds and tatters: February 2013
http://shredsandtatters.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Hard to believe . I haven't posted anything here since October. Such neglect will not be tolerated! At a gallery I visited recently, one of the artist displayed a qr code with each of her pieces in the gallery. I thought, hmmm . I need to find out how to do that. Today I did, creating my own qr code pointing to this blog! Just search the net for qr code generator and take your pick from sites where you can get your own for free. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Monday, September 10, 2012. Y'all bear with me, please. I want to add a couple of pages to my blog that the viewer can access via tabs at the top of the main page. I've added the pages, which are still empty of content, but can't figure out the tabs yet. I'll keep working on it and you'll hear a 'yippee' when I make it work. In the mean time, let's make a doll! Elapsed time, a few hours .) Yippee! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). One artist's perspective . In case you wondered what marsha looks like .
