Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log: September 2014
http://dickandlibby.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log. Sunday, September 28, 2014. The Neuse River, NC. We are sailing to New Bern this morning. Dave will meet us there and take us to his house for a visit. We will leave Tarwathie at the Grand Marina while we are gone. Forgive me for being uncommunicative lately, I'm still very much rattled by the horrible death of that boater woman. I can't get it out of my mind. Posted by Dick Mills. Links to this post. Friday, September 26, 2014. 35 01488 N 076 41.726 W. Thursday, ...

Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log: Hand In The Cookie Jar
http://dickandlibby.blogspot.com/2015/08/hand-in-cookie-jar.html
Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log. Tuesday, August 04, 2015. Hand In The Cookie Jar. South Burlington, VT. Today, I'll take a brief departure from the normal theme of the cruising life. There is an extremely interesting current events story that you won't know much about unless you dig deep into certain news topics as I do. It makes a fascinating story. Apparently, the US Government has unilaterally defined three levels of seriousness of such incidents. Economic espionage. The US considers this...

Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log: May 2015
http://dickandlibby.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log. Sunday, May 31, 2015. Why Cant We Have Boat AND Car? This morning we stopped at the Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center. It felt like home. But we were homesick for traveling the canal by boat rather than driving along side with a car. But we have been having fun. We had lunch with our cruising friends George and Carol. That was fun because the four of us enjoy swapping stories when we get together. Posted by Dick Mills. Links to this post. Friday, May 29, 2015.

Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log: Wings. Wings. My kingdom for some wings.

Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log. Sunday, August 02, 2015. Wings Wings. My kingdom for some wings. South Burlington, VT. This morning as I sipped my morning coffee at the Burlington Airport, two spectacular lenticular clouds formed over Mount Mansfield as I watched. (pic below) It made my heart ache because that is the visible signal for the most glorious of all soaring conditions. I want to be up there flying right now. If you have trouble imagining the mountain wave, the diagram below explains it.

Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log: Can You Sail The Whole ICW?
http://dickandlibby.blogspot.com/2015/08/can-you-sail-whole-icw.html
Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log. Saturday, August 01, 2015. Can You Sail The Whole ICW? South Burlington, VT. I've written over and over again on this blog how the four months of the year when we are actually journeying are our happiest times. I've also written over and over how much we love our favorite destinations. It's a built-in conflict for cruisers. Both have appeal, and each couple comes down differently on journey versus destination. Winds in a favorable direction if you must sail down a...

http://dickandlibby.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log. Thursday, July 31, 2014. Lucky Find or Fate? The other day I blogged about the Burlington airport as a favorite morning place. Well, a strange thing happened there. I was walking through the airport when I spied the following book abandoned on the newspaper rack. I haven't read this book, but Libby and I were enchanted by the two movies Utvandrana and Nybyggerna (Emigrants and Settlers) based in other books in the series. Posted by Dick Mills. I've written often that we plan to continue cruising on Tarwathie indefinitely. Until this morning, we could not imagine anything better. Well, this morning we saw the video below and everything changed. We are mesmerized and stunned. We have a new dream to look forward to. As of now, we are in the market for an affordable used space station. Posted by Dick Mills. We hope you ha...

Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log. Saturday, February 28, 2015. Boot Key Harbor, Marathon, Florida. I'll be leaving Libby alone on the boat for the two weeks. It has been many years since I've been apart from her for that long. But she has many friends in Boot Key Harbor. I'm sure she'll do fine. Keep posted for blogs to come from out west. Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log: March 2015
http://dickandlibby.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Dick and Libby's Tarwathie Cruising Log. Sunday, March 29, 2015. Boot Key Harbor, Marathon, Florida. When Libby and started cruising, one thing that never occurred to us was to buy towing insurance. After all, most of us get along without towing insurance for our cars; why not for boats also. But within the first year, we did buy towing insurance and we have maintained it ever since. At least here on the US East Coast, it is a bargain that you cannot afford to be without. So, what are the remedies? Wait ...
