CSS Architecture is Really, Really Hard - Drew Barontini
https://drewbarontini.com/articles/css-architecture-is-really-really-hard
July 28, 2015. CSS Architecture is Really, Really Hard. I’ve come to the conclusion that CSS architecture is the most difficult thing I spend my time on. I’ve built a Sinatra application powered by Basecamp’s API, spent time working with the React JavaScript framework, built a few Rails applications, and started learning more Ruby (outside of Rails). Yet, for me, CSS architecture takes the cake for difficulty. And why is that? A multitude of ways to solve the problem. Dealing with the CSS cascade. Severa...
Git & GitHub Conventions - Drew Barontini
https://drewbarontini.com/articles/git-github-conventions
June 16, 2015. Git and GitHub Conventions. I spend a large majority of my day working with Git. I’m also very opinionated, so this is a random collection of opinions and techniques that I employ while working in said technologies. Breaking up your commits. There are few good methods for handling how/when you commit. Break your commits down into smaller chunks. Make sure each commit contains only necessary, related changes. Git add -p file.html. Then, you can split and stage multiple parts of the file.

June 02, 2015. Managing Projects with Trello. As I’ve alluded to before, I’m an organizational nut. Whether it’s the code that I’m writing or the project management I’m performing, I like to keep things neat and tidy. For new projects at Code School. I like to organize them in their own Trello. What’s Trello, you ask? Trello is the free, flexible, and visual way to organize anything with anyone. – Trello’s Site. My example “Writing” Trello board. A Trello board with members on a card. This is the list of...

The Front-end Spectrum - Drew Barontini
https://drewbarontini.com/articles/the-front-end-spectrum
June 30, 2015. Front-end development has had an interesting evolution. In the olden days, we were known as web designers. We would take pixel-perfect Photoshop files from designers and convert them into functioning HTML, CSS, and the occasional bits of JavaScript. From there, a backend developer would hook up the front-end to dynamic, server-side data to create a fully functional application. Who is today’s front-end developer? But what about specialties? Someone who can take a design, slice it up, and c...

Singer-songwriter Drew Barnes Official Website
Born to play, live for today! I've spent most of my life so far on, music! To pay my bills, I have always been working 'straight jobs' in the sometimes infamous Entertainment District on neon-lit Granville Street, in the heart of downtown Vancouver. It's an area that harbours a lot of inspiration for songs! When you hear someone say . I've seen it all ! Well, . I pretty much have! I'm a singer-songwriter and I wear my emotions on my sleeve. I write and sing about things that I feel and see. I'm doing my ...

DREW BARRETT DESIGN
City, State, Zip. Your Custom Text Here. I created a letterpress holiday card to give to friends and family. The overall aesthetic was largely influenced largely by Art Deco design. I made a limited-run DIY BMX zine with the intent of returning BMX publications more to its cult days, much like zines such as Low Card and Thrasher magazine in skateboarding. As a nod to DIY hardcore punk zines of the 80’s and 90’s, I made the general aesthetic that of photocopier art, with only the occasional color piece.
