Why Visit The Vet? Medical Topic of the Month. About Dr. Nardi. Heartworm disease is preventable. Many vets in Southern California are now strongly encouraging heartworm prevention. It is recommended a pet be tested once a year and a monthly heartworm preventative (usually a pill or chew) be given once a month. Prevention is easy and pretty affordable. treatment is more difficult and much more expensive! Please talk to your veterinarian about how you can keep your pet safe from heartworm disease.

For most of us our pets are like family and this means we want to treat them that way. Sometimes we might be eating a snack and little Spot looks so cute we just have to give him a bite. but we have to be careful because many foods may be toxic! Some of the most common toxic foods:. Chocolate -Grapes -Raisins -Onions -Garlic -Xylitol (found in chewing gums) - Peach Pits -Tobacco (although not a food) -Mushrooms (many types) -Marijuana (again not a food) -Alcohol. Why Visit The Vet? Ideally, just like people, our pets should have a full blood panel done each year to look for any early signs of kidney disease, liver disease or other illnesses. Once a pet reaches 7 years old they should definitely have their blood panel checked each year (remember they age faster than us and are now about 50 in people years). Your vet may also make recommendations about teeth cleaning and other preventative care to prolong your pet's life! Why Visit The Vet? About Dr. Nardi.

dr nina's notes
Tuesday, August 26, 2014. But I do get excited when September rolls around again - the routine comes back, and I get energized in a different way. For making New Year's resolutions. But putting religion aside, the way the light is waning, the weather is crisper, there is a quickening in the air that feels right for reflection. I have enjoyed these mini-meditations so much that I actually go to bed looking forward to waking early so I can listen to the next day's guided meditation! For those of you not fa...
