I Hereby Declare: May 2011
http://iherebydeclare.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
This is just a test. I again stepped WAY beyond out of my comfort zone at school on friday. One of the English teachers has been trying to introduce the school to SLAM poetry, or Spoken-Word poetry. She has a local poet that has been coming in, and invited some kids to share their own poetry. She wanted us as teachers to encourage more kids to perform, so after pushing the thing for a couple weeks, and after watching another TED talk. As for me, is this the last time I perform my poetry? I am a performer.

I Hereby Declare: April 2011
http://iherebydeclare.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
This is just a test. OMG this totally just saved me! And it wasn't that hard to use! But a shout-out to my dad and brother who helped verse me in the ways of computing. Posted by Dan Johnston. Links to this post. Cool title, right? It is the scholarly study of flags. Just thought I'd share that. Before. Apparently there is some kind of rare atmospheric condition referred to as the Albuquerque Box. A guy who looked like Jerry Garcia. And another guy who kept whacking a little inflatable person with his ar...

I Hereby Declare: Confessions of a male feminist
http://iherebydeclare.blogspot.com/2014/07/confessions-of-male-feminist.html
This is just a test. Confessions of a male feminist. While my feelings are not necessarily new, over the last year I have begun to accept the possibility of self-identifying as a feminist. This has come from a lot of reading of academic feminist thought as performed in the human geography studies. And I have come to realize: once your eyes have been opened to the patriarchy, it cannot be unseen. So why didn't I just shut him down, and tell him how disgusting that kind of comment and mindset are? On the i...

I Hereby Declare: Climate Shift in Focus
http://iherebydeclare.blogspot.com/2011/10/climate-shift-in-focus.html
This is just a test. Climate Shift in Focus. Personally I do believe in climate change. I think that it was an important shift when people started saying 'climate change' rather than 'global warming'. People say, when we got emergency level freezing here in New Mexico and " snowmageddon. In 2010, or 12 inches of snow right before Memorial Day "I don't see a lot of global warming going on here! It's so politically charged. The climate change argument isn't working, since the developing world is increasing...

I Hereby Declare: December 2010
http://iherebydeclare.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
This is just a test. As a former dancer, and BYU alum. From Ryan J Woodward. Posted by Dan Johnston. Links to this post. When still new to Albuquerque we were asked if we had had any "Albuquerque moments." When we asked what that meant, Kamila's cousin simply told us, "you'll know.". Last night we had such a moment. We heard a clip-clop outside. And what do you know, there was a horse! Posted by Dan Johnston. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). As a former dancer, and BYU alum.

Sherrie Knows: Inner Bohemia
http://sherrieknows.blogspot.com/2009/08/inner-bohemia.html
Thursday, August 20, 2009. Recently a friend from Church expressed his outrage over some decisions that local and general Church leaders have made of late. He's so mad about that and other things that he's decided not to come to church anymore. I liken this to a patient, furious with his doctor, who exclaims, "Well, then. Remember those pills you told me to take? The ones that help save my life? Ha I'll show you. I WON'T TAKE THEM ANYMORE. So. There.". What is my friend. Indeed, saves our spiritual lives?

Sherrie Knows: Humble Pie
http://sherrieknows.blogspot.com/2014/05/a-vulnerable-piece-of-humble-pie.html
Thursday, May 15, 2014. I once joked that the difference between my husband and me was summed up by the way we approached the last piece of pie. My husband: “I’ll leave it for someone else.” Me? I’d squeal, “Ooh, pie! So, what’s a self-absorbed perfectionist to do when you’re married to someone like that? It seems counterintuitive, doesn’t it? So, here I am, a changed being from that 22-year old bride. I blame it all on my husband, you know. He’s the one who showed me that true kindness, ac...Joke's on t...

Sherrie Knows: Ideal Me
http://sherrieknows.blogspot.com/2009/04/ideal-me.html
Monday, April 27, 2009. When the day came to write it all down, I was prepared. I was ready to commit. Ready for a better, more refined, more organized, more spiritual, more self-controlled me. Then I prayed. I asked Heavenly Father for specific direction in composing my list. I asked for His will, His insight, His divine help. He answered me. To my mind came. Fulfills Church callings faithfully. Keeps an orderly home. Is a blessing to my husband. Carefully nurtures all my children. Cares for my body.

Sherrie Knows: Are you allowed to give yourself a haircut?
http://sherrieknows.blogspot.com/2009/09/are-you-allowed-to-cut-your-own-hair.html
Monday, September 14, 2009. Are you allowed to give yourself a haircut? A burning question. Why do we think a service is somehow superior when we've paid someone to do it? For instance, what is it about pedicures? Doing it myself - Ok. Paying someone - Fabulous! Money well spent. I'm definitely doing this again! Or Mowing the lawn:. Doing it myself - Sweaty, tiring. Paying someone - Well worth it. Necessary budget item. Is our time so extraordinarily valuable that we can't do simple tasks anymore? Someti...
