Fishing and Stalking on the Isle of Islay. Trout fishing season on the lochs on Dunlossit Estate is from 15th March until 6th October. The fishing is available on seven lochs, all relatively easily accessible on foot, with four of them very accessible by car. Fishing and Stalking on the Isle of Islay. The Laggan is a traditional spate river with the best fishing normally from 1st July through to 31st October. We have a total of thirty pools, lying along three beats. Beats one and two can be fished from both banks; number three from the south bank only. Our beats extend for two and a half miles upstream from the Laggan Bridge on the Port Ellen Bridgend road, with access and parking at both ends. Single rod day permit 40. Single rod half-day permit 25.

The pheasant are released on public land in the Dunlo area for all hunters to enjoy. Dunlo Rod and Gun Club raises 8,000 trout each year. The trout are then stocked into local streams. The streams stocked are: Otto Run, Laurel Run, The South Fork, and Beaver Dam Reservoir.

Set in approximately 18,500 acres of hill ground, farmland and woodland, Dunlossit Estate is located towards the north east of the beautiful Isle of Islay, otherwise known as the ‘Queen of the Hebrides’. Dunlossit Estate offer both boat and bank loch fishing and salmon fishing on the River Laggan. River, boat and bank fishing permits are available from the estate office.
