A trip round Europe- 2008. A blog detailing our family's holiday plans for 2008. Sunday, 3 August 2008. Fantastic Finland- Thursday 24th July- A trip to Jari's Summer Cottage! We were up early, as Jyrki's headteacher Jari had promised to take us out on his boat to his summer cottage, a 20 minute boat trip down the lake. This proved to be another wonderfully relaxed day, where we ate, drank and had great fun with Jyrki, Mari, the boys and with Jari and his wife Kirsi at their cottage. Jari, Jyrki and me.

After breakfast, we left in both cars to drive south east around 90km to the town of Savonlinna. Jyrki had explained to me that it was a very attractive town, and was where he and Mari had met when they were at teaching college, quite a few years earlier! It also is where Olavinlinna. Another one of the two families! Look at the view from inside!

A trip from Scotland to Finland, by car, in summer 2010, crossing through several countries in northern Europe. Sunday, 1 August 2010. We headed for Helsinki after leaving our second cottage, with heavy hearts, as it had been our third holiday to Finland, and undoubtably the best so far. We all wanted to stay, and not leave for home. First though, we had to get the boat to Stockholm, then head through Sweden, over to Denmark, and on through Germany and the Netherlands- quite a journey.
