Evangelisch-Lutherische Kirche in Tansania (Juni bis September 2008). Mittwoch, 30. Juli 2008. Zwischen Papaya und Laeterit. Heute kommt die Biedenkopfer Delegation mit Conny Grube, Claudia Weber, Dekan Gerhard Failing und Gerhard Grabowski in Arusha und dann nach Weiterflug ueber Mwanza abends in Bukoba an. Zusammen mit Distriktpfarrer Leopold Materu werde ich sie dort mit einem Laecheln willkommen heissen. Mit ihrer Ankunft sind fuer mich die ersten vier Wochen in Tansania vorueber. Currently I am sitting in the in the London Airport Air Canada Executive Lounge drinking white wine and eating olives. Our tickets from London to Toronto magically got upgraded from Economy Class to Executive which means we get to eat all the free food and drinks we can manage. Jane, myself, Steph, and Danny all met up in Nairobe after coming through Entebbe and Dar es Salaam respectively. J2ME - Wireles java stuff. Looks like my big project this term might be working with J2Me. i'd be developing java applications that would be accessed from blackberries. Finished constructing our bridge yesterday! Sweet sweet god how it has taken its toll on me. Originally, we predicted it would hold 605lbs. After decided to reduce the load by a "reality factor" of 5%, we officially predicted 588lbs. [The bridge held 595! Only seven pounds off]. Here's a picture of the bridge. THE COOP 0.7% PLEDGE. Here's my latest wacky idea! It's a cool new fundraising strategy for EWB Waterloo! Since we are promoting the .7 Pledge to students at UW, why not also approach coop students to donate 0.7% of their paychecks to EWB. If we can do it then Canada can do it! What do you think? I'm going to try this out by:. 1) Getting feedback from EWB UW fundraising team (Wayne and Co.). 3) Setting up my own 0.7% donation. 4) Convincing my company to match all coop and employee donations.
