Creative Thoughts and Observations. Monthly Archives: January 2015. A few days ago one of my Facebook friends from school in California posted a graduation photo from our 8th grade graduation in Fair Oaks. Everyone looked a bit glum (teenage angst? I’ve dealt with this displacement trauma which I faced as a twelve year old (or at least I thought I had) and there it was staring me in the Facebook. I mean it was a nice blue dress and it was a black and white photo. Through a storm.”. I’ll let you know.

Creative Thoughts and Observations. Monthly Archives: March 2015. Daughter of a Daughter. Daughter of a Daughter by Lynn Gray Ross Weaving and Applique 1976. Tomorrow, March 8 we will again mark International Women’s Day and honour the strong women throughout the ages who contributed to changes in history and influenced society towards an equal appreciation of male and female in our world. I can appreciate the changes that have happened since I started celebrating this day. One of my heroines was Alexand...

Creative Thoughts and Observations. Monthly Archives: October 2014. Chris and Louisa’s visit flew past and I’m so glad I had so much time with them given all they had to achieve in a short time. She confirmed what I say about the NHS and found her time here invaluable as she contacted the policy makers and practitioners in her field of Genetics. They are packing up to go home, but I know they are well and send them off with blessings. In between hospital visits, life is about celebrating the “ordin...

Creative Thoughts and Observations. On Being Just a Little Bit Swedish. Margereta, Monica och jag (me) – today. Shortly after they arrived, my brain did its not so familiar switch to Swedish and I relished remembering words I didn’t think I knew any more. Apart from the chance to speak the language again, their visit also brought back memories of living in Stockholm four years and then the move to Linkøping to move away from city living. Happiness is a 30 m Garden Hose. Which as far as I’m concerne...

Creative Thoughts and Observations. Monthly Archives: August 2014. Garden Tangles & Dreams. THE LOST GARDEN AT SILVERBIRCH. Silverhill was a dream. One third of an acre of land at the top of Glenashdale with a view of the hills and the sea. Although we built two studios and lived in caravans for several years, money was very tight and the council hassles made this even worse. Meantime I was gifted 40 silverbirch samples by a weaving student who also had a post with the forestry department at Aberdeen....

First of May – Excitement and Anticipation | Pearls and Oysters
https://lynn330.wordpress.com/2015/04/30/first-of-may-excitement-and-anticipation
Creative Thoughts and Observations. First of May – Excitement and Anticipation. The first day in May reminds me of beautiful and exciting things. There’s the custom that if you put a posy of wild flowers under your pillow you’ll dream of your true love. On Mayday morning if you bathe your face in the morning dew, your skin will look more youthful and you’ll find your true love, if you don’t already have one. Speaking of gardeners, through a friend I’ve discovered a new plant for my collection. A mother a...

December | 2014 | Pearls and Oysters
https://lynn330.wordpress.com/2014/12
Creative Thoughts and Observations. Monthly Archives: December 2014. The Old Year Passes. I have to start with the weather, because these past days it has been absolutely stunning. Bright winter sunshine, sparkling in the frost which covers everything, warm enough to bring the spring bulbs peeping up in the garden. No wind! Which is just as well because tomorrow I’m headed for Edinburgh for a follow-up check from my transplant surgery which to date is going very well. This has been an amazing year! I an ...
