Beyond Xs and Ys. Chronicling my life through transition. Things Not To Do, A Personal List. I haven’t updated in a long time. Not because I haven’t been writing, but because I haven’t managed to finish anything. So instead of finishing a nice good post for this blog, please enjoy this list. Things I learned not. To do in relationships:. People are not mind readers, if I want a person to know something, don’t keep thinking about it and getting upset that they don’t know anything about it. Don’t ass...

Beyond Xs and Ys. Chronicling my life through transition. On Identity (Mostly Mine). On Identity (Mostly Mine). It is insulting to use my birth name. It is insulting to use female pronouns for me. These are really obvious (at least for most people who find their way to my blog or exist anywhere in my life.). What they identify as is insulting, derogatory, and all around shitty. I am not one of those guys. Except trans, queer, all of it aren’t statements to me. They are conversations. Consta...In fact, I ...

Ruminations of a Junkie for Politics: May 2015

Ruminations of a Junkie for Politics. Liberal Middle Aged White Guy with a degree in History. Sunday, May 10, 2015. The Insanity of Defending Discrimination of Gays based on Religion. So people who chose a particular religion, insist that their choice gives them the right to discriminate against people who don't have any choice about their Sexual Orientation. Because, they say, Homosexuality is a choice. Some would call that cognitive dissonance. I call it insanity. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Guest essa...

Ruminations of a Junkie for Politics: June 2011

Ruminations of a Junkie for Politics. Liberal Middle Aged White Guy with a degree in History. Friday, June 3, 2011. What would Jesus do? I was raised as a white middle class Christian boy. A Southern Baptist. I attended First Southern Baptist Church in Colorado Springs. We had revivals and preachers preaching fire and brimstone. I was in the choir. We sang twice on Sunday, we even sang for the prisoners in the Colorado State Penitentiary. I can't tell you when I became a doubter. I went to those back then.

Ruminations of a Junkie for Politics: July 2012

Ruminations of a Junkie for Politics. Liberal Middle Aged White Guy with a degree in History. Saturday, July 28, 2012. Its been interesting to watch Governor Romney head off on his foreign tour. He didn't start out well, insulting his British hosts before he even got there and then committing two verbal gaffes that had the British press in a feeding frenzy. What I find interesting in all this is what is says about Governor Romney. Sunday, July 15, 2012. Where are you Liberal Mainstream Media. Would it cl...

Ruminations of a Junkie for Politics. Liberal Middle Aged White Guy with a degree in History. Tuesday, October 7, 2014. The Wrong side of History. I was struck by the paucity of outrage at the Supreme Court’s action (or inaction). Across the nation, elected officials seemed to accept what had happened and within hours people were getting married in states where such a thing seemed impossible not 10 years ago. And now they are attacking a woman’s right to chose and American’s right to vote. Tax cuts do an...

Ruminations of a Junkie for Politics. Liberal Middle Aged White Guy with a degree in History. Saturday, July 5, 2014. An Armed Society is a Polite Society. In an on-line discussion I was participating in, one of the commenters stated categorically that an Armed Society was a Polite Society. And this person was dead earnest about their belief. That has stuck with me as emblematic of the insanity of the current gun control debate. I learned a lot of my libertarian leaning from Heinlein and his books. BREAK...

Ruminations of a Junkie for Politics. Liberal Middle Aged White Guy with a degree in History. Saturday, March 30, 2013. Why are we still talking about Gay Marriage? I really don’t understand. I don’t understand how people who profess, as part of their larger political philosophy, that they want to get government out of people’s lives insist that the national government should make a law for everyone defining marriage. Could there be a more intrusive example of government intrusion into our lives? Ignorin...
