A year in the life. I live in a beautiful place. Babies babies and more babies. Hello, spring. →. 03 27, 2009. There’s been a lot going on. In my head and on the farm. I haven’t finished my lambing class because I was in CA last week, so I spent most of my time at her head, trying to keep her calm and standing her up when the vet needed. I spent some time last night after chores hanging out with her, too. She’s looking a lot better this morning. 8211; I love it. 8211; Feels good to my body. I live in a b...

About | a year in the life
https://farmfag.wordpress.com/about
A year in the life. This is a blog documenting and sharing bits and pieces of my experience of moving from a big city to a little rural town, and of leaving a high anxiety crisis-centered job to attend 12 months of farm school. In the end, I may never use my farming skills as part of a therapeutic process, or I may forgo school and become a full-time farm hand, I have no clue. Whatever it is, it’ll be an adventure. 2 responses to “ About. 01 7, 2009 at 16:01 pm. 03 25, 2009 at 15:58 pm. Babies babies and...

Plotzn | a year in the life

A year in the life. Something like it →. 05 13, 2009. Everything is exploding – the trees, the grass, yes, even the flowers. I don’t know if it’s that I’ve never lived somewhere so lush in springtime or if I just never really noticed before. A month or so ago, we could hear the cracking of water moving under the earth, but everything still looked frozen. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Something like it →. April | a year in the life
https://farmfag.wordpress.com/2009/04/18/april
A year in the life. Babies babies and more babies. Hello, spring. 04 18, 2009. This month has been beautiful. Yesterday I spent my afternoon on my knees in the sun transplanting our first onions into long dusty beds. I was amazed at how dry the dirt was, how it’s texture changed as we went forward and then back to begin on the next bed. Nothing feels good right now. I’m hoping that the summer will feel better and get here quick. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Break | a year in the life

A year in the life. A Muddy Day (largely in pictures) →. 02 23, 2009. I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want from the rest of this year. I’ve become very interested in food – how different cultures view food, definitions of food, the use of food, food as gift and food as nourishment and food as diet. How do you, dear readers, define food? What’s important to you about the foods that you eat? If so, what is your favorite food to make for other people and why? January | a year in the life
https://farmfag.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/january
A year in the life. 01 10, 2009. Thursday afternoon standing on a ladder I reached above me to drill though a metal beam in our new greenhouse. We were hanging the heater. Three men stood below me, watching, silent, smiling. My body thrummed with my own, internal, tremors, and the twisting beats of a dying battery against hard, sleek, material. A few minutes passed. Am I doing something wrong? No, no. You’re just the best show in town. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

something like it | a year in the life
https://farmfag.wordpress.com/2009/06/09/something-like-it
A year in the life. 06 9, 2009. It’s June. I’ve been actively working on my independent project for a month now. It is one of two shining lights in my life – the other is the growth and green that surrounds me in this place that is truly not mine. But these fields, I do feel like I belong in them. Perhaps I simply long for place. Is it that I ache for the embracing arms of community, furrows to call my own, to slip into at sunset, soils to cradle me through the night? That spurred me on.
