Asymp; 2 Comments. I am not a good runner, but running has been good to me. I suspect that it is not the healthiest habit. Several weeks into training and the aches become more pronounced. I’ll take off a bloody pair of socks, patch another blister, and curse my shins. My body responds so poorly that I limit myself to a few months of running a year; my shoes will grow dusty in the back of the closet once this race is over. Asymp; 2 Comments. My favourite story is the one I force my parents to tell me, ag...

This project, is one that I pondered over for a very long time before putting pencil to paper - years in fact! It is a graphite pencil drawing of a really special Elephant Bull - his name was Xibala (pronounced S. I thank Photographer, Ian Thomas, for giving me access to the reference images. To steal his show - this is after all, not a landscape drawing, but a tribute to a truly awesome Elephant Bull! Launch of my new and improved website in November 2014. Doug Haass Photography: April 2014
http://doughaassphotography.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 8, 2014. I've been photographing these two Great Horned Owls since I first saw them on March 8th, this year. I've been there almost every Friday or Saturday since that date, trying to chronicle the growth of the owlet to fledgling, and hopefully to full grown in flight. Could I have made this photo better in any way? Though this photo looks like there was a lot of light in the scene, there was just a touch of it hitting the nest. The 10000 ISO is what lightened it up. Even at that ...I mad...

Doug Haass Photography: September 2014
http://doughaassphotography.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 7, 2014. Green Praying Mantis - Brazos Bend SP. Several weeks ago I started shooting macro, and got hooked. This is one of the reasons for it. My first Praying Mantis; have not seen one in years. This one was in the short grasses next to the trail at 40 Acre Lake. I normally walk past these scenes, only looking for larger critters, like birds. 1/60 @ F14, 180mm, 1/3 EV, ISO 2500, no flash, AV priority, spot metering, on tripod. Posted by Doug Haass.
