Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Swear, I've got the social graces of a traffic cone. Last night was Whitney Terrell's big hometown second-novel party night, with a reading at Unity Temple and a reception at a loft in the Crossroads District. Allie and I went to both. She said, hopefullly, "I have my check book. Maybe they'll take that.". Cool," I said. "We can at least offer, and we won't look like total dicks.". Maybe I should go to charm school. 18 months of preparations for hauling a sled across the Greenland icecap in 2012 - or 2013? Wednesday, December 22, 2010. December 21st - January 4th: Testing camping gear in Luleå. More importantly, I have been camping in the cold. During those two weeks I have had between -10 C (14 F) and -32 C (-25 F). When it gets below -20 C I find it a lot more difficult to handle things in and around the tent, but my Exped DownMat. Has worked fine, and my Marmot CWM MemBrain sleeping bag. Well, cycling might not be the smartest choice when it comes to training for a Greenland trip, but for a number of reasons, this is what I will do this summer. I'll start from Vancouver, Canada, on July 7th and will hopefully reach the Mexican border around August 18th. It's going to be half the amount of miles I did last year, when I cycled across the US.
