Dawn came fast. I packed up, my morning routine: bandage feet, stuff three sacks into backpack, brush teeth, put on boots, strap on front waist pack, hoist the big pack, grab hiking poles, go! I stopped by a small chapel on my way out of Astorga to renew my head and heart. Then the pilgrim rush hour caught up with me!

My hiking plans were changed when I drove down Furnace Road and found bumper-to-bumper traffic parked everywhere for opening day trout season. There was no way I would be able to find a parking space to do another section of the Mason Dixon Trail. So I headed west to the Appalachian Mountains! My new destination up in the mountains! Today was more of a stroll, a sans terre, a saunter. It connected the landscapes of the Camino to the landscapes I love most - the rocky coast, sea and mountain. I thought of Mom and Dad who took me to the wild capes of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. I've adored the rocky coasts since I was three! Pilgrim at The End of the World.
