Friends of Grimes Farm. The Grimes Farm Run. A GF summer event! The race this year is July 9, 2016 at 8:00 am. We will have the 5K and 8.8K Run/ Walks, the 1.6 Mile and the kids races. Here is the rundown on the races for the day:. 5K This is the same trail you have known and loved! 8 K The trail includes the entire 5K with a very rustic extension taking you on a deer trail along the undeveloped side of Linn Creek. Grassy/dirt trail. (Race run only if the trail condition allows).

Friends of Grimes Farm. A Short History of Grimes Farm. A recent article in American Forests. Offers a good overview of Leonard and Mildred Grimes's purposes in developing Grimes Farm. The chronology below shows a few of the milestones in the project. Leonard and Mildred's Gift. Leonard and Mildred Grimes began to donate 160 acres of land to the Marshall County Conservation Board and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. Fisher Controls of Marshalltown awarded a $25,000 gift to the Nature Center projects.
