I guess I should have known that the people who leave reviews on TripAdvisor for a place like the YHA Earl’s Court. Well, the chances. Good, at least until I went to put on my shoes this morning so we could walk upstairs to check out, and when I picked them up, one of my new furry little friends ran out the top, across the floor, and over the top of Anna’s foot. After a busy weekend in Philadelphia attending the annual conference of the American Homebrewers Association. Because of the time change (England is 5 hours ahead of the east coast), we’ll arrive at about 10pm local time, and our first task will be to find the entrance to the Underground at Terminal 1, where we’ll catch the Piccadilly Line. East for about 40 minutes to the Earl’s Court station. Why must airports be so far away from the cities of which they are the airports? On Friday the 5th we’ll ...

We stayed in bed until 9am, then took turns using the shower across the hall with our rented towels (ah, hostels), and hit the town. The only thing on our modest agenda today was to explore Kensington Gardens. Which is immediately west of Hyde Park. When we got to Kensington Palace. I persuaded G to let me take her picture with Victoria:. Besides just enjoying the beauty of the grounds and gardens, we also spent an hour or so at the Princess Diana Memorial Playground. Okay, I guess it really is unseasonably warm around here. I noticed this in a newspaper yesterday as we were on our way to the airport. We’re in Edinburgh for the weekend, where it’s 10 degrees cooler, but I don’t have my laptop so I can’t do a proper blog post until we get back to Cambridge. Still, I can show you this photo of me visiting the grave of one of the smartest philosophers of all time:. 2 comments on “ Proof. July 19, 2013. In any case, we’re apparently in the middle of a heat wave here in England. When I was in London last weekend I was watching the weather on TV, and the anchors were just awestruck that temperatures were forecasted to soar to nearly 32 degrees! 1 The British Museum (where they have the Rosetta Stone. On display, along with many many other things). 6 The Tower Bridge.
